New clients continue care with this provider
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has lived in Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts. I have experience working with clients of all ages and their families. I have worked or trained in schools, private practice, community mental health centers, and Probate & Family Court. I enjoy helping clients identify their strengths and learn skills to navigate life challenges and transitions.
First of all, thank you for making the time to come to therapy. With everyone's busy schedule, I know this is not easy. Your first session is a "get to know you" session that works in both directions. I will ask some questions to learn about you, and I am happy to answer any questions that you may have about me. We will go over important policies and procedures and expectations for the both of us. Then we will talk a bit about what brought you to therapy and your goals for treatment. Finally, we will discuss a plan for when and how often to meet.
In general, I pride myself on my ability to connect with a variety of clients. I make it a point to take time to get to know you and understand your point of view. And I've been told I have a great sense of humor. I also have two young children, so I understand the joys and challenges of raising kids. From my prior training/employment, I have a lot of experience with psychological testing and working with schools and jobs to help clients obtain accommodations.
I love working with any client who is motivated to learn more about themselves and to work toward their vision of a good life. This can be on an individual basis or in the context of their relationship or their family. I have extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, Autism, and adjustment to various life changes.

I use an integrative approach, meaning that I use many different styles of therapy in a meaningful way, depending on what best fits the situation and your personal preference. No matter what type of therapy I'm using, I aim to be supportive of your experience, and I'll ask you questions to help me better understand your perspective. My work is also trauma-informed, strengths-based, neurodivergent-affirming, and practical (in terms of figuring out if there are any community resources you might benefit from). The styles of therapy I use most often are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing. CBT focuses on a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and it can sometimes involve doing concrete action steps outside of the session as a way to practice a skill or experiment with a new way of doing things. ACT helps us accept things as they are currently (even if we don't like them), but also helps us figure out how we would like to change them. Motivational interviewing helps us figure out what our goals are, what we need to do to achieve them, and what things might be getting in the way of achieving them. I also have experience doing couples and family therapy, as well as performing evaluations for learning differences.
