Kevin Hom
Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm new to the Grow platform! I’m an LCSW with three years of experience supporting primarily adults. I have enjoyed working with a diverse range of clients where I hold reparative space for healing, growth, and reflection. My approach is collaborative, practical, and down-to-earth. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy to help you better understand yourself, build coping skills, and set realistic goals that feel meaningful and doable in your everyday life. I earned my MSW from the University of Southern California and bring a background in advocacy and union organizing, which shapes how I show up—with a strong commitment to equity, respect, and truly meeting you where you are. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and able to move forward at your own pace. I also say 'dude' far too often.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a space where you feel heard and supported. Starting therapy can be uncomfortable! I'll take time to listen intentionally and understand what’s bringing you in, while establishing a sense of comfort, safety, and trust. My goal is to meet you where you are, and work collaboratively on a path forward.
Strengths
I try my best to keep therapy real and approachable. We will work together on setting achievable goals so progress feels doable, and not overwhelming. Clients often tell me they appreciate that sessions feel like a genuine conversation—we can talk to each other like humans. I hold a relaxed and supportive space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and still be challenged in ways that help you grow.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to work with adults navigating life transitions, including changes in career, relationships, identity, and family roles. I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and the impact of past trauma, and I have experience working with both men and women from diverse backgrounds. My approach is especially helpful for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next steps, and who are looking for practical tools alongside a space to process their experiences. I value creating a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel understood while also being challenged to grow. My goal is to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward a greater sense of stability, purpose, and self-confidence.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I draw heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my work, using it as a practical, evidence-based framework to help clients better understand themselves and create meaningful change. I focus on helping clients slow things down and notice the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—especially the patterns that may be keeping them feeling stuck or overwhelmed. In sessions, I work collaboratively with clients to gently challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, build more balanced perspectives, and develop coping strategies that actually fit their day-to-day lives. I tend to keep things real and applicable—whether that’s practicing skills in session, breaking down situations they’re actively dealing with, or setting small, achievable goals that build momentum over time.
