Hi, I am Diane Smith, a licensed practicing counselor, in Pennsylvania. Congratulations for making the decision to do therapy. I have worked in clinical counseling psychology for 14 years. I love to help people achieve their goals. We all go through difficult times and I am trained to help people overcome obstacles. Together we can work on the issues that are holding you back. It doesn't matter if it's anxiety, depression, you're burned out, poor boundaries, OCD, addictions, relationship issues, grief, and loss you name it we can handle it. You deserve to live your best life. If you are new to therapy don't worry. It's like talking to a good friend who is legally bound to not share a word you say. There are 3 reasons when I am legally bound to report, since I am a mandated reporter, 1. You threaten to kill the president 2. You threaten to harm yourself. 3. You threaten to harm someone else. Also, you won't be judged for anything you tell me. People do what they do for many reasons. Most of my clients say that I am very easy to talk to and that they feel safe sharing with me. I hope that you give me a shot! I look forward to going on a journey with you. FYI*** Please give 24 hours advanced notice if you can not attend an appointment or you will be charged $50.00 Also, If you do not show up for an appointment you will be charged $50.00 as well. I only get my hourly fee if I meet with the client for the allotted time. If the client does not show I don't get paid. Thanks for your time, Diane Smith

I have worked in the treatment since i was 36 and have 35 years of experience. My early experience was in the drug and alcohol and relapse prevention field. During that time i attended the Gestalt Institute in Cleveland, Ohio where I took 4 years of intense training. This lead me to find that therapy is not a method for me to figure out the client but a means for the client to gain greater self-awareness in facing their own life aspirations and struggles. I place focus on clients’ somatic awareness, especially breath, so being more in their body so they can try on new physical and intellectual styles in facing their world. I have a lot of knowledge about what is called the 12 step process and have melded together spirituality and religion in my own life. Prior to being a counselor/ therapist i taught school, painted steel bridges and other structures, and was a machinist at a large steel company, that like the many in our area have since closed their shops.

Therapy gives people the opportunity to develop effective and healthy responses to life's stressors. I work to create a safe holding environment to allow you to feel comfortable being yourself. I work with clients to help them develop a deeper awareness regarding their behaviors, thoughts, patterns, and feelings. I like to get to the source rather than just focus on the symptoms. I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship stress, parenting, ADHD, identity exploration, assertive communication, self-esteem, and grief. We will work at your pace. It's about progress, not perfection. I work with you to help you empower yourself. Asking for help or support can be scary. Making the decision to begin therapy takes a great deal of strength. I offer free 15 minute phone consultations. In order to have a free consultation you may call me at 717-322-2102 or you may email me at larkin19@protonmail.com. Fulfilling our potential is a lifelong journey of becoming more at peace with ourselves, deepening the intimacy in our relationships, being more authentically human, and feeling more alive each day. Along the way, certain challenges arise to cause us distress or confusion. Such moments can make us feel held back, afraid, or unsure of where to go from here. But these moments can also be the points of growth and healing from which we renew ourselves in ways we did not think possible. It is a great privilege helping men and women in their search to improve their relationship with themselves and others, to lessen the burden of emotional pain, to experience freedom from addictions, or to embark on new life challenges - to find the hope and courage needed to take those important next steps.

She is very respectful and always listens. I know she’s a great listener because she provides insightful opinions, advice, and something I think is undervalued normally, validation. She doesn’t make you feel judged and is someone who is Team: your well-being. I couldn’t recommend her more especially to someone who might be coming to therapy for the first time since that kind of vulnerability can be scary. --A.L.·Dec 02, 2021 Maria is very attentive to your personal issues and offers very professional and sound advice. I am grateful to have her as my therapist. --J.O.·Oct 21, 2021 Maria was very helpful in my situation; this was my first experience with therapy and I wasn't sure what to expect but we hit the ground running and I was able to make really good progress right away. I struggled with setting boundaries and how to better communicate with my loved ones - this is a source of anxiety for me. Maria listens and really understands what I'm going through. She set me up with great worksheets and helped me start to be more reflecting and proactive to work through tough situations. With her help, I was able to make some realizations and she coached me on how to set healthy boundaries and helped me understand the different types of boundaries. Maria was easy to talk to because you can tell she cares and respects how you feel. Thanks again for your help!! --C.O.·Sep 28, 2021 She is the person who helped me a lot. A very nice soul. --A.A.·Sep 23, 2021 Maria takes the time to really listen and understand your problems. She is comforting and gives great insight into tools you can use to better understand your emotions and process them. --M.A.·Sep 18, 2021

Graduating in 2012, I have met with many hundreds of individuals, couples and families using a myriad of different methodologies. What I have learned is that the best way to help a client is to let go of anything you ever learned and connect with the person individual in front of you, not as a client but as a person. In addition, I take a highly biased and slanted bent towards your strengths and qualities with an unhidden agenda of manifesting your individual core beauty. In other words, this is a highly individual journey and the key to enjoying it is through highly colored lenses of your inexhaustible array of qualities. All methodology and techniques fall to the wayside.
