(she/her)
Hi, I’m Grace Rummel, LCSW and I own Little Steps Counseling, LLC. I have over five years of experience in counseling, including the past three years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and I’m passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenges in a way that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering. My approach to therapy is compassionate and individualized. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected, while also helping them build practical skills to navigate stress, emotions, relationships, and personal growth. I have extensive experience working with younger populations, but I also value the unique perspectives and needs that adults bring into the therapeutic process. Whether you’re seeking support for a specific concern or looking to better understand yourself, I aim to meet you where you are and work alongside you toward meaningful change.
The first therapy session, often called the intake session, is an initial meeting designed to gather information, establish rapport, and set the foundation for future work together. During this session, I will focus on understanding the client’s concerns, background, and goals for therapy. Clients can expect to discuss their presenting concerns, including current symptoms, stressors, and reasons for seeking counseling. I will also ask about relevant history, such as mental health history, medical background, family dynamics, substance use, and social supports. This helps create a comprehensive understanding of the client’s experiences and needs. In addition to gathering information, the intake session is an opportunity to begin building a therapeutic relationship. I provide a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can share openly at their own pace. I will also review important policies and expectations, including confidentiality, session structure, fees, cancellation policies, and how to access support in emergencies. Clients are encouraged to ask questions to ensure they feel comfortable and informed. By the end of the session, the client and I may begin identifying initial goals for treatment and discussing a general plan moving forward. While deep therapeutic work may begin later, the intake session serves as a critical starting point for collaboration, trust, and effective care.
I bring strong communication skills and a thoughtful, insightful approach to helping individuals navigate life transitions. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable, heard, and supported, making it easier to talk openly and work through challenges. My style is warm, caring, and nonjudgmental, with a focus on building genuine connection and trust. I am motivated to help people grow and make meaningful changes that align with their values, offering guidance that is both compassionate and empowering.
I enjoy working with children as it is noticeable to shape their minds to cope with the tragic things that the world throws at them. I love to teach kids and teens coping skills and how to cope with life in general. I enjoy working with younger adults who might be struggling with adjusting to life after high school or college. I am able to empathize how hard these life transitions can be. I have experience working with clients of all ages over the past 5 years with a variety of mental and behavioral health concerns.

Child Parent Psychotherapy
I have worked providing outpatient therapy to children and families for the past 5 years full time. I have experience working in mobile therapy with children in my internship with graduate school.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used this as a main treatment option over the past 5 years with teens and adults. I use this to help clients challenge their anxious thoughts and reframe their thoughts to more helpful thoughts.
Family Therapy
I have worked with families as part of my outpatient counseling career. The child is generally the identified client. Much of my work had been with the parents and siblings of the children, as well.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I have used this therapy to help clients relate to behaviors to certain things that have happened to them and the roles they play in a family system.
Strength-Based
I have used a lot of empowerment based strategies to help clients build on their strengths to improve their overall quality of life.
