Kimberly Kennedy, LPC, CAADC Licensed Professional Counselor | Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor As a therapist, I offer a grounded, compassionate approach that combines realism with kindness. I specialize in working with individuals navigating addiction, anxiety, unresolved trauma, eating disorders, parenting challenges, and the everyday complexities of life. Whether you're facing a major transition or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to support you in navigating life’s challenges with clarity and purpose. I draw from a person-centered and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) framework, meeting clients where they are while also challenging unhelpful behaviors that may be holding them back. I believe in being direct—but always supportive. My clients often tell me they feel truly seen, heard, and empowered to take control of their healing process. I hold a Master’s degree in Pastoral Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Neumann University and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from The University of Scranton, with concentrations in Counseling and Human Services, Social Sciences, and Education. Whether you're seeking support for specific issues or working toward personal growth, I’m here to help you build the tools, insight, and confidence needed to move forward.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will ask some background questions, but really try to get an understanding as to what made you seek out therapy. From there I like to build on the conversation and get a sense of what you would like to accomplish while in therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have always wanted to help people and it wasn't until I started to go through my own personal health struggles that I realized I could help people through conversation. I have background in student teaching, counseling and providing vocational skills to adults with disabilities, Counseling adolescents navigating sobriety or legal issues, and of course spending a great chunk of my career working with adults in early recovery. The beautiful thing about recovering from substances is watching people discover the person they truly want to be. With that obviously brings a lot of struggles and I feel my biggest strength is being able to adapt to whatever the person in front of me needs whether its positive reinforcement, a guiding voice, a teaching guide, or just an ear to listen to. I have gained a lot of knowledge throughout the years on how to really help people with their negative thought process. I also will not stop learning, if there is something that can help me better guide my client I will absolutely do my research.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with individuals who are embarking on a new chapter in their lives, whether that’s in recovery or a fresh start in any area of their journey. I understand that change can bring up old thought patterns and behaviors that no longer serve your growth. My approach is to help you recognize these patterns and gently guide you toward healthier ways of thinking and being.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My therapeutic approach is centered around tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual I am working with. Drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), I assist clients in identifying and understanding the behavioral patterns and thought processes that contribute to negative self-perceptions. I prioritize directness and honesty in our work together, as I believe these qualities foster self-awareness and promote personal growth. I am committed to helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves, empowering them to heal from the past and navigate their future in a healthier, more intentional way.
