Dayton, PA - Accepting clients in PA

Hello, and welcome! My name is Amber Stewart, and I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) out of Western Pennsylvania. I specialize in anxiety, self-esteem, depression, and trauma. I want to help you go from just tolerating the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, or trauma to living fully in the present. You deserve to live the life you envision for yourself, and I want to help you do that by exploring the areas you’re struggling with, teaching you ways to cope, and reducing the impact that these symptoms have on your life by addressing them at their core. I believe that underlying most (if not all) mental health concerns is some kind of trauma – and, there’s many studies that support my belief that trauma is connected to depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I invite you to learn more about my approaches to therapy, trauma, and trauma therapy by visiting my website: www.everystepforward.com

To others it may seem like you've got it all together, but on the inside you're spinning out of control. Panic randomly punches you in the chest, taking your breath away, and you can't focus on anything else other than how to make it stop. You are consumed by trying to keep up with everyone else since they seem to have it all together, but you can barely function through the day. You feel like an awful mom because you are lashing out on your kids and hating the daily monotony instead of "embracing the joy of motherhood." You feel like you are failing your partner because somewhere along this journey you just lost yourself. You want to be a better mom to your kids. And remember why you fell in love with your partner. And stop the tornado of anxiety that knocks you out on the regular. You want to stop living by the expectations of others and rediscover who you truly are. It's time to win back some peace of mind and self-worth and attract the life you want. I have the DBT and mindfulness skills, which uses both mind and body exercises that will help you manage the crippling anxiety, love yourself better, be a more present and joyful mom, improve your relationships, and attract the life you want.

I have an LPC and an LMFT and have been seeing clients since 1996. I have extensive training in helping people who are going through or have experienced narcissistic abuse and any form of childhood trauma, this includes verbal and emotional abuse, family addictions, or any early childhood experience that would cause one to feel unsafe. I am also experienced in the treatment of anxiety, worry and mood concerns and work with addictions, obsessive compulsive behaviors and any poor coping skills or core beliefs that were developed in order to manage these stressors. I use practices primarily focused on somatic and cognitive therapy but also utilize acceptance commitment therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness and am solution focused. I use homework and assignments aimed at regulating the nervous system in order to repair the fight/flight/freeze response that is often stuck on due to a continuous history of a variety of life stressors (trauma). This trapped and stored trauma continues to trigger the nervous system to respond in ways where we continue to feel unsafe, even after the threats have passed. By working with the nervous system to release this trapped trauma and find safety, we can then have the opportunity to respond to the world differently.

Everyone deserves to feel heard and believed. One of my first goals in working with you will be to discuss how to create a space and relationship where you feel safe and respected while coming up with a plan to meet your unique needs. Therapy with me is not a place where you are given band-aids. While many techniques I employ can help in the immediate, our goal is to find long-lasting change. This may be uncomfortable or difficult at times, but through that discomfort comes deeper understanding and insight, and ultimately a more healed and meaningful existence. Every human being is unique and you deserve to experience therapy that fits your unique needs rather than a one sized fits all approach. I am trained in a variety of evidence based treatment methods including CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma informed modalities and will work with you in our sessions to find what works best for you.

My work has been a mix of public and private sector involvement, including 11 years of community mental health service and 30 years of individual practice. I have extensive experience in both home- and office-based psychotherapy, program development, clinical supervision, and clinical innovation. Special populations have included people with developmental disabilities, children and adolescents at risk for out-of-home placements, people with substance abuse issues, and geriatric populations; all have experienced various forms of grief, loss, and trauma while navigating the simple task of living and surviving. I hold a Master of Arts Degree from Edinboro University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been in practice for the past eight years in a variety of settings. These settings include working for a hospital at their inpatient hospital-based twelve-step drug and alcohol unit/program. In addition, I have had the oppurtinorty to work in public schools as a school-based counselor covering six schools working with students in grades k-12, Other areas of practice experience include working with individuals, groups, families, couples, children, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults. I am an experienced therapist, licensed in the state of Pennsylvania since 2018. I have a passion for working with people from all different backgrounds, cultures, lifestyles, and ethnicity. I remain open-minded to whatever the client's needs are and tailor therapy techniques and approaches to best fit the client's needs. While meeting with each client, I try to imagine what it must be like to be this person and to experience all of the things they have gone through and are going through. I find myself able to connect with each one of my clients on a personal level to give every individual the same respect, dignity, understanding, empathy, compassion, and time, a person deserves while actively listening to what the client is saying verbally and non-verbally. I am always learning new information, and therapy techniques, and growing my skills while increasing my abilities and knowledge in the mental health field and applying this knowledge to my everyday practice. Each of my clients teaches me something new and in turn, I utilize this knowledge gained to grow both personally, spiritually, and professionally and enrich myself as a therapist. I recognize it takes courage to engage in the process of therapy. I appreciate your motivation and will work respectfully with you to create a positive, collaborative, therapeutic relationship. The focus of my practice is helping people to overcome and understand issues that impact their quality of life. I feel it is essential to understand the person as a whole by having a clear picture including mind, body, and spirit, to start the healing process to grow. I provide a safe judgment-free space where my clients can feel comfortable discussing the issues they wish to resolve or find difficult to deal with. I have found the process of developing a therapeutic relationship to be profound and fundamentally important to facilitating growth and change. I am ready to assist you in these stages of change and help you to reach your goals. I am looking forward to joining you on your journey! Hello and welcome! I’m Beth, and I’m so glad you’re here and have taken the important first step toward self-care. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. You may be feeling like you've lost motivation or that your emotions have taken over, or perhaps you're worried about a child. Whatever challenges you're facing, EVERYONE deserves to lead a meaningful life. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can confront their struggles, find empowerment, and regain a sense of security to start living their best lives. As a highly sensitive person (HSP) with strong empathy, I understand the importance of compassion. I'm a down-to-earth person who has my own struggles, just like everyone else. I have two children: a son who recently got married and a daughter currently in college. Between my family, including my husband, we certainly know how to drive each other crazy! I love spending time outdoors in nature, as it helps me stay balanced. The tools and strategies I share with my clients are ones I’ve used in my own life, and I believe my experiences as a therapist, educator, mother, wife, daughter, and friend make me a relatable ally for those I work with. Before becoming a counselor, I spent the first 20 years of my career as a school teacher in Philadelphia. During that time, I was privy to many difficult situations in my students' homes, including various forms of abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, the education system's main focus was on meeting academic standards, leaving little room to address the mental health challenges these children faced. I did my best to support them both academically and emotionally. Over time, I realized what my true calling was and I resigned from teaching to pursue a graduate degree in mental health counseling.

Accepting clients in PA

Hi! My name is Daryll, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I strive to create a therapeutic space in which every client can feel truly, deeply seen and feel completely understood without fear of judgment. Empathy and acceptance are of utmost importance to me. As Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” In a world where relationships are becoming more and more difficult, it is my mission to create an absolutely safe space for clients to be completely honest with themselves so that they can develop a deep level of self-acceptance and self-respect. When you feel totally accepted and valued exactly as you are, you can finally start to move towards living your life as your best self. My role is to sit with you in whatever darkness you are experiencing, and to hold space with you and hold hope for you, while we work together towards the life of peace and balance that is waiting for you.
