LPC, 8 years of experience
Hey there, I'm Jess! Do you feel like you're missing a connection with others and feeling alone? Are you tired or overwhelmed with life's struggles and navigating through difficult times? I strive to empower people to be the best that they can be. Together, we can work to manage your anxiety and find what works best for you to make the change you want to see in your life. We'll use a cognitive behavioral approach to assess what you need in your life and the changes that you need to make to get there. I want to help you to live your best life and to live your life to the fullest. As your therapist, I feel that a therapeutic relationship is so important to have and that includes open communication, trust, honesty, humor and a sense of safety. Whether you're dealing with anxiety or depression, I am here to help. I'm here to support you through the process as I know change can be a scary thing, but we will work through it together. In our sessions, we will work together to identify those changes that need to be made and how we can make those changes happen. You deserve to be the best version of you and I'll be there to help you. Let's work together! Background: I am a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed behavior specialist. I have had over 8 years of experience in the field working with autism, anxiety, ADHD, depression, conduct disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. I have worked with children, adolescents, and young adults ranging from 4 years old to 25 years old. I look forward to helping you make positive changes in your life!
During our first session, we will take the time to review your concerns as well as the things you would like to focus on in sessions. Each session going forward is tailored to your goals and what you would like to get out of therapy. This initial session allows me to understand where you are coming from.
My biggest strength as a counselor is providing motivation. We cannot make a change unless we are motivated to do so and I will be with you every step of the way to make the change. I like to remind my clients of their goals and what we are working towards. Even small steps are progress on the road to change.
I have worked with clients with anxiety, ADHD, autism, conduct disorder/oppositional defiant disorder, and depression.
Ways I have used CBT is to help individuals re-frame their thoughts from those negative intrusive thoughts to a more positive thought.
