I have worked in the treatment since i was 36 and have 35 years of experience. My early experience was in the drug and alcohol and relapse prevention field. During that time i attended the Gestalt Institute in Cleveland, Ohio where I took 4 years of intense training. This lead me to find that therapy is not a method for me to figure out the client but a means for the client to gain greater self-awareness in facing their own life aspirations and struggles. I place focus on clients’ somatic awareness, especially breath, so being more in their body so they can try on new physical and intellectual styles in facing their world. I have a lot of knowledge about what is called the 12 step process and have melded together spirituality and religion in my own life. Prior to being a counselor/ therapist i taught school, painted steel bridges and other structures, and was a machinist at a large steel company, that like the many in our area have since closed their shops.

I’m a firm believer that we are all carriers of deep, complex life stories. These stories build and shape our inner worlds and can be both elevating and/or burdensome to us. They build our reality and how we place ourselves within it. As a licensed clinical social worker, my work focuses on helping my clients interact with their stories, organize their habits, and shape the mental patterns that they are functioning within. We work together to make certain these stories are in alignment with the life they want to build for themselves. My approach to mental health care focuses on the mind-body connection, and a deep emphasis on both thought and bodily sensation awareness. I hope to partner with my clients as they find more security and self understanding within our work together. I look forward to seeing you all within the space and am excited to begin our work together!

Asking for help is hard. When life gets to be overwhelming, talking about the issues can help organize your thoughts. The therapeutic relationship is the most important tool we'll use! We'll work on building trust, a sense of safety, and open communication to identify how we can improve on your already existing coping skills, supports, and knowledge. I utilize an eclectic approach to best meet your needs. I believe that being kind and compassionate with yourself is the first step to healing and creating change. I enjoy providing therapy for women and adolescents 14 and up. I love working with women and teens on issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and relationship/family problems. I can offer compassion and a safe space to explore what's going wrong and what we can do about it. Taking the first step is the hardest. Hello, and welcome! My introduction to the counseling field began while working within therapeutic group homes that served children through adults experiencing mental health struggles. This experience, both enriching and meaningful, inspired my interest in pursuing counseling. I was deeply moved by the varying degrees of challenging life experiences that we are all tasked with navigating and the ways we attempt to cope, gain insight from, and hopefully transform our adverse circumstances. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University and since, I’ve had the opportunity to assist a diverse range of clients in both inpatient treatment and outpatient therapy settings, and more recently, at a college counseling clinic at the University of Montana. Within these programs, I’ve helped clients address anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, academic challenges, relationships, identity changes, sexuality, and general life stressors. I am grateful that I can work to help individuals navigate the evolving nature of their lives by providing unconditional positive regard, encouragement, and supportive guidance.

Fulfilling our potential is a lifelong journey of becoming more at peace with ourselves, deepening the intimacy in our relationships, being more authentically human, and feeling more alive each day. Along the way, certain challenges arise to cause us distress or confusion. Such moments can make us feel held back, afraid, or unsure of where to go from here. But these moments can also be the points of growth and healing from which we renew ourselves in ways we did not think possible. It is a great privilege helping men and women in their search to improve their relationship with themselves and others, to lessen the burden of emotional pain, to experience freedom from addictions, or to embark on new life challenges - to find the hope and courage needed to take those important next steps.

I am a licensed psychologist with many years of experience in cognitive behavioral therapy. I have had success using CBT to treat anxiety, panic, anger issues, insomnia, and chronic pain. Treatment is goal oriented, skill based, and backed by research. I think that it is very important to learn to judge yourself and the world less harshly. I believe that our unrealistic thoughts and expectations are major contributors to our discontent. I have found that some of the concepts of Eastern and Stoic philosophy can help put our lives into better perspective. I particularly like the aspects of psychology that are based on science. As a field, we know a lot about how people learn and how early experience shapes our current moods and behavior. I also like to incorporate current ideas in neurology and physiology that support behavior change.

I have had the privilege however of working in various roles within the mental health field for over a decade, before eventually taking the leap to obtain my clinical licensure. I believe that each job role has served as an integral part of my professional journey, and helped to shape me into the clinician I am today. It is the deeply rooted values and unwavering commitment to serve those in need that drew me to the field of Social Work, and the personal responsibility to carry out those values each and every day is not one that I take lightly. With that being said, let me offer you some insight into the ways therapy may be able to assist you as you embark on your own personal journey to achieving optimum mental and emotional health.

Hi, I'm a therapist with over thirty years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families and historically getting positive results. I tend to work with families with special members such as teens and seniors. I have always worked with teens as it seemed to be a population others found difficult, but I liked the challenge. Now that I am a senior, I better understand the needs of our demographic. I tend to utilize a Family Systems approach which sees the individual in a family context as the majority has grown up in some form of family, whether related by blood or not. I've also taught Marriage and Family Therapy through what is now Drexel University's Family Therapy Program and have offered professional Supervision as a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. By working with the client in a collaborative, goal setting manner, faster more positive results seem to be achieved.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use dogs in my office while doing therapy. Please schedule telehealth or advise in advance if you are not comfortable in an office with animals. They do provide therapeutic support to clients and have been part of my practice for some time. I hold licenses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and specialty certification as a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am a firm believer in everything that happens creates the person. I am a whole life counselor and work with people to explore what it would take to move past the difficult times in life. I take the time to get to know my clients and have many clients who have been with me for years. That doesn't mean someone will see me every week for the rest of their life. It means client know I am available when they have need. I do have clients who have seen me weekly for years not because they are dependent on me but because they have found benefit in processing their life regularly. I have had a successful personal practice for years and can offer clients the space and reverence to unpack the most unpleasant things to reorder them in a way they no longer can cause harm as they once did. There is no perfect childhood and it is likely families do the best they can and it may not have filled the needs of their child. I am happy to take as much time as needed to work through the problem as you understand it.

Life is hard. Sometimes it feels like problems come one after another. It is overwhelming. You don't have to get through it alone. Therapy is a great place to talk about life's problems where you can say anything and not be judged. No matter what you’re facing, talking with someone can help. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you feel like you’re grabbing coffee with a friend…a friend who happens to be a licensed counselor with more than 11 years of experience. In my time working as a counselor, I have helped patients manage and overcome obstacles like anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. From challenges with the overwhelming pressure of academic life, work life, career choices, relationship challenges, and more, I will be there to offer an objective perspective on your situation and provide healthy tips and resources to navigate it. My approach empowers personal growth while always ensuring you feel safe, seen, and heard. Depending on your needs, I utilize CBT, DBT, and Reality Therapy approaches in sessions. Currently, all sessions will be conducted virtually, allowing you to participate from the comfort of your own home and on a more flexible schedule. Let's do this together.
