I've got experience with working with senior citizens with dementia, people with chronic illnesses and pain, and I've worked in the prison system as a therapist as well as in a gender-affirming care clinic. Hi! I am a dually licensed therapist in both Florida and North Carolina. I began my education later in my adult life, and believed I had arrived late to the game. But I found that life experience paired with my own belief system, allowed me the opportunity to view life's challenges through a unique lens, and because of that I am non-judgmental and empathetic towards people who are struggling with the hurts life has dealt them. I believe in using a collaborative approach in helping my clients. I use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Therapy, as well as Christian Counseling. I am supportive, yet direct with empathy, compassion and help you address the barriers in your life that are causing you pain and distress.

Hi, I’m Sheena Burden, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I’m truly glad you’re here. Reaching out for support takes courage, and I honor the step you’re taking. My heart for this work comes from years of walking alongside individuals and families facing overwhelming moments, both in private practice and throughout more than 13 years in hospital care management. Those experiences have taught me that people don’t just need tools — they need compassion, safety, and someone who genuinely cares. In our sessions, you will find a space where you can slow down, breathe, and be fully seen without judgment. I believe healing happens when we feel supported and understood, and my goal is to meet you with warmth, patience, and deep respect for your lived experience. I draw from CBT, ACT, and Solution‑Focused Therapy, but I always tailor the work to your needs and your pace. For clients who desire faith‑based support, I also offer Christian counseling, integrating spiritual encouragement and emotional care in a way that feels comforting, not pressured. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, grief, health challenges, or simply feeling lost, we’ll work together to uncover your strengths, clarify your values, and create gentle, meaningful steps toward the life you want. You won’t have to walk through the hard things alone — I’ll be right there with you, offering steady support and compassionate guidance. If you’re ready to begin, I would be honored to walk this journey with you.

I’m often asked, “What made you want to become a therapist?” The answer is simple: I genuinely enjoy helping others. I understand that life can be difficult because I’ve faced my own challenges along the way. My journey hasn’t always been easy, and therapy was an important tool that helped me find support, work through difficult experiences, and continue moving forward. I believe therapy is a journey, and you shouldn’t have to walk that journey alone. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, encouragement, and a safe space where you can be yourself, explore your thoughts and emotions, and work toward becoming the person you want to be. I’m passionate about helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges. I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, life changes, relationships, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I believe that change is possible and that everyone has the ability to grow. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands and have worked in the mental health and child welfare fields for more than 30 years. My years of experience have given me the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and through many different challenges. Most importantly, those experiences have taught me the importance of meeting each person where they are and recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me enjoying the outdoors, getting lost in a good book, or spending time with my energetic and adorable miniature schnauzer, Felix.

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LISW-CP) based in North and South Carolina. I earned my Master’s from Simmons University and have been practicing since 2018. Reaching out for support takes a lot of courage and curiosity—and I want to acknowledge that just by being here, you’re already taking an important step. Life has a way of creating all kinds of transitions. Some can feel like waves of excitement and full of growth and opportunity, while others feel overwhelming, unclear, scary, or just plain hard. I work with people navigating many types of life changes, including (and not limited to): grief and loss, caregiving burnout, medical diagnoses, changes in independence, identity exploration, and retirement. And with those changes often come things like anxiety, depression, loneliness, or feeling disconnected from yourself. My approach is holistic, somatic informed, and person-centered. That means we’ll focus on your strengths, your body and mind, your story, and what matters most to you as we work together to bring more balance, purpose, and joy into your life. You don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support you.

I worked as a teacher for over 15 years before making the journey into a community mental health career. I have experience in mobile crisis response, trauma, forensic mental health concerns. To explain who I am as a therapist, I reflect back to my role as an educator. In the classroom, there was a movement for the teacher to be less of a “sage on the stage” (teacher-centered approach) and more of a “guide on the side” (student-centered). To me, therapy is a lesson plan for a learning experience. It's a guide to develop what the client needs to learn in order to cope with whatever barriers are showing up in the client's life, whether that barrier is an internal issue, such as self-image, or how to cope with work stress. My therapeutic perspective is to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, compassionate guidance and support in an atmosphere of respect and safety while allowing clients to be the experts of their lives, much like “a co-pilot, a sous chef, or an assistant manager” of a client-therapist relationship. I use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of traditional therapy, I enjoy the practices of mindfulness, guided meditation, aromatherapy, and Reiki. Finding a therapist that's the right fit can be a challenging task, but taking that first step towards a healthier you is worth it. I look forward to working with you to help break down those barriers and make progress in areas that most matter to you.

My name is Janet Muta and I am a Licensed Clinician with over 17 years of experience in mental health, behavioral issues and relationships. I treat individuals from diverse backgrounds. My approach is treating the whole person because most of the time our problems are the outcome of more than just one thing and when I get to know you I am able to address different issues that could be contributing to that one specific problem. We all experience some difficulties in our lives sometimes and we all cope differently. What works for one person/couple who are experiencing a similar situation may not work for another and so I personalize your treatment to fit you. Being in therapy is like being on a journey, I make sure you are in the driver’s seat and I become your great working GPS, guiding you to your desired destination. I also hold a degree in finance which sometimes comes handy when helping those who are stressed due to financial needs. Among the treatment modalities I use are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Parenting, Contingency Management...
