I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with 17 years experience supporting clients in various transitions in their life. I have spent the first 13 years working specifically in grief and those who have had the death of a loved one. The skills learned as a grief counselor apply to many other areas in a persons life and we are constantly presented with change that can require a shift in perspective.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session we take some time for brief introductions and then the client gets to dive into the challenges that brought them to therapy. We work together to find the best plan to help create confidence and healing.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I feel one of my greatest strengths as a provider is the ability to connect with my clients and meet them were they are. My first job as a provider is to create a safe place for my clients to feel comfortable to do their therapy work.

Mind-body approach
Our whole body and mind are impacted by the way we experience events. Some of these can impact how we interpret current situations and interactions with others and ourselves. The basis for starting treatment with me is to establish some grounding techniques through mindfulness and breath work. These are the tools that I use to get started with clients so they have a positive anchor to come back to when dealing with the issues that are brought to therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Changing our thought patterns can be a successful way to shift how we perceive experiences. Utilizing tools to help reframe negative thought help to create more confidence. I use journal dialoguing to help the control ruminating thoughts so we can free up space for more joy and creativity.
Experiential Therapy
Sometimes there aren't words to express the hurt that can be experienced in life. For this I like to use Expressive Art as a means to work through the emotions that can be present after painful or traumatic experiences in life. I work with clients to find the best form of expression to work through issues presented in session.
Grief Therapy
I have spent 13 years working as a grief therapist for a hospice and learned so many tools to help other process their grief. Learning that there is no wrong way to grieve and allowing yourself the time a space can be big tools. I work to provide a safe space for those who have experienced a loss to share and process their pain. Grief can be any type of transition in your life and not just the death of a loved one.
