As an individual who struggled with alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety, my life experiences, as well as my education and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of my life, have provided me with the opportunity to serve those who are struggling with life. Everyone has life struggles. I am prepared to help individuals and couples learn how to live life amidst struggles, such as depression, addiction, worry, financial stress, or marriage difficulties. I am blessed and honored to be in a position to use the gifts God has entrusted me with to serve others.
My specialty area is addictions. I struggled with alcohol addiction for about 23 years. Through God's redeeming grace and an excellent education, I am well equipped to help those struggling with addiction and the anxiety, depression, worry, and fear that may or may not be attached to the addiction.
My life experience with addiction has equipped me with an understanding about addiction. Not just for the individual, but for the affected family/social network as well. My education at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary has also equipped me with God's ultimate resource for our afflictions - The Word of God.
I specialize in working with people struggling with eating disorders—anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and related challenges. I recognize these aren't simply about food; they're deeply intertwined with emotional complexity, cognitive patterns, and questions of self that demand thorough, empathetic treatment. Through my specialized Modified DBT training, I help clients navigate overwhelming feelings while building healthier ways of coping.
I also frequently work with those facing debilitating anxiety—whether it shows up as persistent worry, panic attacks, or avoidance. My practice includes young adults in transition, working professionals dealing with performance stress, and adolescents managing social and academic demands.
Beyond this, I support people experiencing depression who want active, goal-oriented approaches to confront negative thinking and rediscover purpose. I work with trauma survivors prepared to work through painful experiences, individuals with mood disorders seeking greater equilibrium, and those navigating identity questions tied to life changes, relationships, or core values. What my clients have in common is readiness—they're committed to actively participating in their healing. They're looking for more than a listening ear; they want actionable tools, collaborative exploration, and proven methods that lead to real transformation. If you're willing to engage fully and commit to your own development, I'm ready to partner with you on that journey.Claude is AI and can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.

I am a counselor who embodies empathy, compassion, and motivation in guiding my clients toward healing and self-discovery. My training in TEAM CBT, developed by Dr. David Burns, emphasizes the transformative power of confronting negative thoughts to drive positive emotional change. This method, rooted in the principle that 'The Truth Shall Set You Free,' focuses on identifying and challenging cognitive distortions. Additionally, as a Christian Counselor, I seamlessly integrate Christian principles with traditional talk therapy and TEAM CBT, ensuring that these approaches complement rather than conflict. Insurance:
Individuals, couples, and families: Services not clinically indicated are not always covered by insurance if the primary client/patient is not experiencing a medical necessity. Here's a few examples:
1. Most insurance plans don’t cover marriage counseling because it’s not considered a "medical necessity." That doesn’t mean therapy isn’t valuable, just that insurance companies tend to focus on diagnosed mental health conditions rather than relationship issues.
2. Life coaching or career coaching — focused on professional development rather than treating a mental health condition
3. General stress management without a diagnosed disorder — for example, “I just feel stressed” without a clinical diagnosis
4. Self-improvement or personal growth sessions aimed at building confidence, public speaking skills, or lifestyle changes
5. Vague or exploratory therapy without a clear diagnosis or treatment plan
6. Non-essential wellness or “feel-good” therapy not tied to a specific mental health need
I work with people of all ages who are trying to get the most out of their relationships and are finding that anxiety keeps getting in the way of feeling confident with others or at school. Having healthy relationships is the cornerstone of a balanced life. You know that there is no better time to resolve these issues of insecurity than now. I can help.
If you are feeling isolated because of your anxiety you are not alone. Many people struggle with anxiety and negative thinking and counseling can help! People who work with me tend to feel relief right away. They learn skills to manage anxious thoughts and feelings, gain confidence, and feel more secure in relationships.
With counseling you can look forward to being more confident expressing yourself, feeling more fulfilled in relationships, and gaining control of your worry.
