My skill set includes years of practicing CBT, trauma processing, solution focused work, motivational interviewing, relational and psychodynamic techniques. I have been practicing clinical social work since I received my Masters in 1986. Settings I have worked in include: community mental health agencies, youth residential programs, schools (elementary, middle and high school), remote therapy platforms. I love my work and easily connect with all types of clients, placing importance on building trusting therapeutic alliances. I believe that patients exhibit courage to engage in the therapeutic process. I view the therapeutic alliance between myself and client as a partnership. Throughout the process I make sure to check in with the client about how they are perceiving things such as the development of the relationship and the pace of the process for the client. I am always open to feedback.
I support clients with developing goals and identifying the strengths they have to succeed in reaching their goals, at their own pace. I bring an authentic and nonjudgmental attitude to my practice and offer a more conversational counseling style. I create a safe and comfortable space for my clients to process their feelings and determine if their behaviors are aligned with their goals. I help clients improve emotional regulation and develop coping skills.
Hi there! Many of us struggle in silence to overcome the challenges we face, but you no longer have to face that battle alone. From someone who has had their own personal struggles with mental health, I want you to know that you are not alone. I strive to create a space for you to feel seen, heard, and safe. As someone who has been to therapy, I understand how difficult it can be to take that next step. Finding the right therapist can be hard. Finding someone to support you, challenge you, and hold space for the things most people in our life have no idea we are facing. I would be honored to be that space for you. I hope we can work together to help you reach your goals. While the first step is acknowledging the change you need, it takes courage to recognize you need some guidance. It takes even more courage to initiate those first steps towards improving your life.
