I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Music Therapist (MT-BC), with over 20 years of formal music experience and 6 years of counseling experience, serving clients all over MA. I have worked with clients of all ages and diagnoses and specialize in treating adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse through a client-centered and trauma-informed lens. I combine music therapy and counseling approaches, individually tailored, to help build resilience and make clients feel more in control of their own lives.

I feel my biggest strength regarding approach, is being able to use analytical and receptive music therapy, as a board certified music therapist, to help clients with anxiety, past trauma, and low self-esteem.

If you have ever held onto a secret out of fear, felt isolated in your pain, or put your own needs aside for the comfortability of others...please know you are not alone. Together, we can build on the strength within to create a life that doesn't need escape.

First session

The first session is typically focused on getting to know you, your reasons for coming to therapy, past mental health treatment, and goals you want to focus on.

Strengths

I believe one of my biggest strengths is my ability to meet a client where they're at. I always try to show up to sessions as authentically as possible, and use clinical as well as lived experience to guide my work.

Ideal clients

I am best positioned to serve adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and individuals who struggle with anxiety and low self-esteem. If a client is concerned about being misunderstood, has trouble believing in their own worth, or knows the reasons behind why they struggle but doesn't quite know how to move forward or heal, I would be a good fit for them.

Treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I help clients examine unconscious processes (thoughts, desires, memories) and past relationships to deepen their understanding of themselves and how influential these are on current emotions and behaviors.

Humanistic

I work from a holistic lens and view the client as an integrated whole rather than a set of symptoms. I place emphasis on empathetic and active listening, unconditional positive regard, and compassionate reflection when speaking with clients.

Feminist

I am mindful of how social, cultural, and political forces, particularly power imbalances, oppression, and gender roles have an impact on mental health.
