New to Grow
Hello, I'm Diana, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, support, and practical tools for change. I work with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, adjustment to medical diagnoses, relationship concerns, and communication difficulties. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, incorporating evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to provide a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their personal growth.
During our first session, we will begin building a foundation for your treatment by discussing what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are currently facing, and the goals you hope to achieve. I will gather information about your personal history, relationships, strengths, and coping strategies to gain a better understanding of your experiences and needs. Together, we will identify areas of focus and begin developing a treatment plan tailored to your goals. My aim is to provide a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your story and taking the first steps toward meaningful change.
I bring a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy, creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that each person is the expert on their own life, and I work alongside clients to help them gain insight, build on their strengths, and develop practical tools to navigate challenges. My approach combines evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with genuine empathy and individualized care. I focus on helping clients not only understand the root causes of their struggles but also learn effective strategies they can apply in their daily lives. Whether clients are facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, medical challenges, or relationship concerns, I strive to foster resilience, growth, and lasting positive change.
I am best positioned to work with adults and older adults who are navigating life transitions, adjusting to significant life changes, or coping with the emotional impact of new medical diagnoses. I help clients process feelings of uncertainty, loss, stress, and adjustment while developing effective coping strategies and building resilience. I also work with individuals experiencing communication challenges, helping them improve interpersonal relationships, strengthen boundaries, and express their thoughts and emotions more effectively. My goal is to provide a supportive space where clients can gain insight, develop practical skills, and move forward with greater confidence and emotional well-being.
Other specialties
I identify as
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my work with clients to help them develop practical skills for managing anxiety, depression, stress, and overwhelming emotions. DBT focuses on building a life worth living through four core skill areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I teach mindfulness skills to help clients stay grounded in the present moment rather than becoming overwhelmed by worries about the future or regrets about the past. Distress tolerance skills help clients navigate difficult situations without making them worse by learning how to tolerate discomfort, use healthy distraction techniques, practice radical acceptance, and resist acting impulsively on intense emotions or urges. I also help clients develop emotion regulation skills to better understand their emotions, reduce vulnerability to emotional overwhelm, and respond more effectively to life's challenges. Additionally, I teach interpersonal effectiveness skills to strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, and improve relationships. Together, these skills empower clients to cope more effectively with stress, increase emotional resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. During sessions, I take time to understand the concerns and experiences that bring you to therapy while exploring the thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions that influence your emotions and behaviors. Together, we examine cognitive distortions and patterns of thinking that may be keeping you stuck, increase awareness of these patterns, and develop more balanced, realistic perspectives. Through this process, clients learn to recognize when they may be making negative assumptions or "filling in the gaps" with self-defeating narratives and are supported in creating healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges.
