Usually, my clients seek therapy and counseling after struggling with challenges for days and sometimes months. Over time, these same challenges create maladaptive behavior patterns that must be corrected to facilitate change. However, my clients tend to dig in while inserting a host of new concerns. Albert Einstien wrote: "We can't solve today's problems with the mentality that created them" With this in mind, it is better to seek professional services and resources: Recognizing you're not alone in this healing process. I understand that therapy cannot solve all things of the past that challenge us, but clients can seek support, understanding, and better days. My passion is to help the world heal through community and humanity. I'm ready to help you define and rewrite your new beginning. This will allow you to sculpt the person you want to be.

With all of the challenges that life can throw at us, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or helpless. Life satisfaction and happiness might seem like distant goals with no clear path forward to reach them. You may find that you are spending more and more time stuck in your own head, perseverating on your struggles and acting as your own harshest critic. To me, therapy rooted in compassion and empathy can be a fantastic tool for navigating these challenges and discovering meaning and self-empowerment. Having begun my career at a community mental health clinic, I have experience working with a diverse population of adult clients from many socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds and with a variety of presenting concerns and challenges. I specialize in treatment for anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as struggles with substance use and always adapt my therapeutic techniques to the individual needs of my clients. My philosophy is that therapy is a partnership between client and therapist to help foster healthy coping skills, personal growth, self-compassion, and understanding of oneself.

This experience has allowed me to gain vast knowledge in the many nuances that can affect one’s life. I have been honored by each person that I’ve worked with as they have allowed me a windows view of their life and the issues each of them had while working together as a team to overcome these issues. My thought on counseling is that the person seeking therapy and the therapist are a team and work together as a team to find solutions and overcome the issues at hand. I have a desire to use my empathetic and compassionate nature along with my skillset and experience to help people find and utilize services, coping skills and solutions that will assist them in gaining a better quality of life. I do this by providing a confidential safe and judgment free place for those seeking therapy to discuss their situations and needs. I use a strengths-based approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy and thinking outside the box to help people in identifying and reaching their goals.

I have a master of science in mental health counseling from Capella University. I am trained to work with individuals, groups, families and couples. I also have extensive knowledge and sensitivity in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar, difficult life transitions, parenting issues, relationship problems, LGBTQIA issues and other life challenges. My understanding of counseling comes from many different theoretical orientations. I believe that the client or clients have the solutions to their dilemmas within one’s self. Therefore the counselor does not have the “answers” to the client’s “problem” but is a facilitator of the process that helps the client take responsibility and action and come to a resolution. I am here to support and guide you on that journey.

My name is Circe Dunwoody. I am a license psychotherapist. In my psychotherapy practice I help couples and individuals to overcome life difficulties by using cognitive behavior therapy. Many couples and individuals feel overwhelmed by the desire to balance the high demands from work and family life. They report feelings of emptiness and loss of drive. Some report feeling of depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Others contemplate divorce as a solution to decrease the pressure they are internalizing. You can contact me for help if you are experiencing some of the feelings I have mentioned above, and you are ready to make changes in your life. l work with couples and individuals in a safe and confidential platform environment. In life we all need support and understanding from others. Sometimes the best solution is to seek professional help. Having emotional support is extremely helpful. Relying on friends or family members is also helpful. However, you may not want to overwhelm them with problems. The most intelligent solution is seeking professional help.

I have a particular affection for both the young and the young at heart believing that we are all striving somewhere along this spectrum. I am a passionate believer that tending to the wellness of our mind, body, emotion and spirit is how we remain there and or return there, depending on where we have found ourselves on this shared journey. I believe that while every person and their experiences are unique, the human experience with its joys, struggle and suffering are common to us all. It is out of this commonality that I work to create space, understanding, connection, and hopefully acceptance, growth & change with my clients.
