(she/her)
I am Angela Bates, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, dedicated to guiding individuals on their journey to emotional well-being. My counseling style is empathetic, mindful, and client-centered. I believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity but equally important, she prides herself on demonstrating compassion, genuineness, and empathy. My treatment approach is set on the foundation of building a therapeutic relationship by establishing trust and rapport from the onset of sessions.
In your first session with me, you can expect a safe, welcoming, and structured environment. I will gather important information such as your background, concerns and therapeutic goals to set a foundation for future sessions. However the overall aim is to build trust with you so you can feel comfortable.
One of my greatest strengths as a mental health provider is my ability to offer non-judgmental, empathetic support. I can listen, validate emotions, and provide coping strategies and resources as needed. Additionally, I offer a safe space where clients feel comfortable to express themselves.
I love working with adult clients 18 and older who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, grief or relationship issues.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT as it is commonly called) to help you to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and reactions. I teach you how to challenge negative thought patterns and respond to challenging situations more effectively.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I integrate ACT techniques such as present-moment awareness, cognitive defusion, self-compassion, and committed action into therapy sessions in a practical and collaborative way. My goal is to support clients in responding to life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and choice—so they can move forward with intention rather than fear.
Grief Therapy
In my work with grief, I help clients make room for painful emotions while also reconnecting with meaning, values, and purpose. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, therapy supports clients in learning how to carry their grief in a way that allows for continued living, loving, and growth. I integrate mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion-based strategies to help clients tolerate emotional waves, reduce self-blame, and soften the struggle with “how things should be.”

First ever therapy session, I didn't know what to expect but Angela was great and held space for me to express myself and made em feel heard. Definitely would recommend!
