A mental health therapist is a compassionate professional dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges. With specialized training in evidence-based practices, the therapist provides a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop strategies to foster growth and healing. By combining professional expertise with empathy, the therapist helps clients build resilience and discover their own strengths.
⸻
Prospective Clients
Prospective clients may include individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, or significant life transitions. Others may simply seek personal growth, stress management, or improved self-understanding. Clients come from diverse backgrounds and present unique needs, but all share a common desire for guidance, healing, and support. Whether someone is seeking short-term solutions or long-term care, the therapist tailors treatment to meet each client’s goals.
⸻
Impact on Clients’ Lives
The impact of therapy can be profound. Clients often report improved emotional well-being, healthier coping strategies, stronger relationships, and greater confidence in their ability to handle stress. Therapy can help individuals break free from cycles of self-doubt, manage overwhelming emotions, and build more fulfilling lives. Over time, the therapeutic relationship itself can serve as a model for healthy communication, trust, and personal growth—empowering clients to carry these skills into all areas of their lives.

If you are new to therapy, simply put, therapy is two people, in the same room, working together to sort something out. It’s a partnership, a collaboration. Making the decision to enter therapy is a big deal. You are entering into a relationship with a complete stranger, with hopes that this person will help you navigate through whatever challenges you are facing.
Here’s the reality. I’m not the best fit for every client. It is important to know that YOU are the one that makes the decision to move forward with a particular therapist or not. If it doesn’t feel right, shop around until you find the right therapist, for you. Take an opportunity to ask questions about the process, including what approaches they take in helping people, their therapy style, what will be expected (homework/assignments between sessions), cadence and length of therapy sessions, cost of therapy, and how long therapy is expected to last (6 months, 1 year, longer?).

Are you feeling depressed and anxious? Are you finding your life is in turmoil because you have to make a change? Maybe you are changing careers or jobs, you’re recently divorced, your home is now an empty nest, or you are retiring. These are only a few of life’s transitions that can bring on depression and anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the therapy I use most often, states that A (Antecedent action or event) + B (our belief about that antecedent action or event) = Consequences, (depression or happiness). If you think of a transition or event (A) as a negative experience (B), you will experience the consequences of your belief, as depression and anxiety (C-negative) or as happiness and excitement (C-positive).
Unfortunately, many of us view a transition or change as a bad thing, a time when we are facing the unknown without a map. I would like to help you see change as an opportunity, a time for growth and exploration. Come with me. Together we can make change a positive force for a bright future.
please schedule appoints only on the hour.😀
