In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we'll start by discussing what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll gather some background information to better understand your situation and tailor our sessions to your needs. This initial meeting is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a feel for how we can work together. My aim is to create a comfortable and collaborative environment where you feel heard and supported.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my commitment to providing a structured yet individualized approach to therapy. I focus on helping clients identify their problems, explore their emotions, and develop practical solutions. By staying up to date on the latest evidence-based practices, I ensure that the care I provide effectively meets each client's unique needs. Additionally, I offer flexible scheduling options, including early morning, evening, and weekend hours to accommodate clients' busy lives.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use ACT to support clients in accepting difficult thoughts and emotions rather than avoiding them. Through values clarification and committed action, clients learn to align their behaviors with their core values, fostering a sense of meaning and purpose. I guide clients through techniques like cognitive defusion and experiential exercises to help them become more psychologically flexible and resilient.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. Through structured techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and thought records, clients learn to replace distorted thinking with more balanced and realistic perspectives. This approach empowers clients to develop effective coping strategies and supports lasting behavioral change.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I apply DBT to assist clients in managing intense emotions, improving interpersonal effectiveness, and reducing self-destructive behaviors. By incorporating core modules such as distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness, clients build practical skills to navigate emotional challenges. I emphasize validation and dialectical thinking, helping clients hold space for both acceptance and change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I integrate mindfulness techniques to enhance clients’ awareness of the present moment and reduce automatic, reactive responses to stress. By cultivating nonjudgmental attention to thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, clients develop greater self-regulation and emotional clarity. Mindfulness is often woven into sessions through guided meditations, grounding exercises, and breathwork to support overall mental well-being.

Grief Therapy

In grief therapy, I provide a supportive space for clients to process the emotional, cognitive, and physical impact of loss. I help clients explore and express their grief at their own pace, while also addressing any complications such as guilt, identity shifts, or unresolved issues with the deceased. Depending on the client’s needs, I incorporate elements of narrative work, memory integration, and meaning-making. My approach balances honoring the loss with helping clients rebuild a life that carries the memory of their loved one in a healthy and adaptive way.
