Hello, I’m Talisha Carter-Moody, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Counseling & Psychology from Troy University. I have over 30 years of experience working with both community members and individuals involved in the justice system. My areas of expertise include depression, trauma, self-esteem, anxiety, grief, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, life transitions, and more. I would say I am an eclectic therapist. I specialize in adults and adolescents utilizing solution-focused techniques, motivational interviewing skills, cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and trauma informed counseling. I currently assist individuals with anxiety, depression, identity concerns, bi-polar and extended grief, as well as those going through life changes such as adjustment to illness, school, divorce and job loss. I believe in creating an environment in therapy that the therapeutic relationship can grow in order for the individual to reach their greatest potential. My counseling atmosphere is warm, supportive and collaborative so each individual can feel at ease as they work through life’s challenges. The goal for most people is to find their “Happy”. I want to help facilitate those individuals to that state of being.

As a seasoned therapist my experience includes a wide spectrum of mental health issues. I have a network of physicians, mental health providers, and spiritual advisors whose counsel I seek to help provide the best care for my clients. It is my goal to lead clients to ask the right questions and help them find answers that will result in a positive, forward movement in the therapeutic process. My main focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but use other modalities when necessary to help clients achieve the change they are seeking. My practice involves, but is not exclusive to, marriage and family counseling, depression, anxiety, bipolar issues, LGBTQ issues, aging issues, workplace issues, mediation etc. I also provide faith based counseling when requested. My practice is open to all regardless of who they are or the issues for which they may be seeking guidance. My goal is to help clients move forward positively, finding coping skills that work well for them. If in the process I or the client determine I am not the right fit, my self esteem is not tied to it. I will help them find someone who may work better for helping them to achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take Tufts Health/Cigna?

Yes! If you use Tufts Health/Cigna you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Tufts Health/Cigna you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
