New to Grow
Hi, I'm Jess! My background over the years is primarily in grief, anxiety, life transitions, and emergency psychiatry. I have been able to assist clients in some of the darkest times of their lives and it's an honor to sit in this space with you. Grief touches us all in so many different forms and when the unexpected happens, we don't always act in line with who we are or who we want to be. Together, we will focus on being rooted in the present to develop the tools you need to make it to the other side. Life transitions come with so many ranges of emotions and what we can do is unpack your emotions, learn how to manage them, and set goals for the future you want. My approach is welcoming, direct, and catered to your specific needs.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I like to start sessions by unpacking your story and history so that I understand your present concerns with the full context of who you are and what you have already accomplished. We will talk goals, current concerns, and the best plan for moving forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Because I have spent the last 8 years in the medical field, I have been able to help clients with a wide variety of concerns including anxiety, crisis, grief, depression, and life transitions. I have a newfound interest in Internal Family Systems which has helped people identify, accept, and grow their emotional regulation. I also use the classics like CBT/DBT/Motivational Interviewing/ACT. However, if I am not the right fit for you, I am connected to a great community of other clinicians that I can connect you to! Let's start with a 15 minute consultation call to make sure we are a good fit together and go from there!
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am comfortable working with individuals who are going through a life transition and finding themselves stuck but motivated to address their anxiety, depression, grief, or disappointment. My approach is very collaborative and I want our time to be spent in a way that serves you best. We will take things session by session with your primary goals in mind to address your concerns in a deep and meaningful way. Some days you may feel more goal oriented and other days may feel heavy with little to no motivation. Either way, your session is about you and your current needs and we will tackle them together little by little. Change doesn't happen overnight so I'm glad you're here to make the first step of many!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is the foundation of many other therapeutic modalities. This approach helps you understand how your thoughts affect your behaviors. When using this approach we will uncover negative thought patterns and learn strategies to modify your unwanted behaviors.
Motivational Interviewing
This approach is useful for substance use and addictions. When we are using this modality, we will be assessing your desire for change and creating an action plan that suits you best.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS will help you connect your emotions to physical manifestations in your body. You'll be able to explore your different "parts" and learn about what each one needs to feel connected.
