Hi! I'm Crystal, a Licensed Therapist with years of experience focusing on perinatal related issues such as grief and loss, fertility challenges, mood and anxiety disorders both in the pregnancy and postpartum period, and typical adjustments to motherhood. In short, I help moms increase positive motherhood experiences and journeys throughout fertility. It can be hard and isolating, let’s do it together!
After a free consultation to ensure we're a good fit for each other, in our first session, we'll focus on establishing goals for therapy. Additionally, we'll go over paperwork to gain clarity of what's bringing you to therapy and establish understanding of past history. Through building rapport, we'll get a good idea of how fluid this client therapist working relationship will be.
Having worked with moms and parents for so long, I've strengthened skills in providing empathy, highlighting clients capacity to practice self compassion and the art of holding space for all things in non judgmental ways.
Since graduating with my Masters and becoming clinically licensed I have always worked within the population of pregnancy, in clinical settings; inpatient; and the community. Working with the perinatal population allows for me to hold space for moms / parents in ways they generally wouldn't get in other settings. I come with both personal and professional experience that allow for clients experiences to be normalized within a non judgmental space so their voice can be heard and their goals can be met whether it's to decrease anxiety, improve low mood, or move throughout life after loss without disress.
Attachment based therapy has brought so many clients tools to manage both relationships and provided them with understanding of how they exist within relationships because of previous experiences, often traumatic.
CBT has allowed for the management of reoccurring negative and irrational thoughts. This therapy allows for clients to not only recognize the thoughts they're having that may be contributing to their mood and behavior but also useful tools to engage with those thoughts so they become more rational.
Using EMDR has been transformative within therapy for clients who've experienced trauma. It allows them to gain insight into past experiences that are hindering their ability to move forward without distress and instead helps to reprocess so the memories / experiences are met with more adaptive coping skills.
Using ACT within my practice allows for clients to acknowledge and accept issues present without judgement. This has been helpful within spaces where difficult emotions and possibly irrational judgements with the issue have been formed, ACT allows one to lean in and engage.
