Like you, my clients have been through agonizing stuff that happens in movies like: -Being raped by their own parents, having it swept under the rug, and being labeled the black sheep of the family; -Being treated like crap, bullied by their family, and left to fend for themselves; -Being cheated on and learning years later the child they've raised isn't theirs; -Witnessing the suicide, homicide, or brutal abuse of their loved ones while hiding and holding their breath under the bed or in the closet; and -Being denied opportunities and otherwise mistreated because of their racial or sexual identity. Experiencing emotional injuries like these can leave you with a deeply felt sense of I am not safe, I do not matter, and I am not good enough. You can know logically that these things aren't true; yet, your body still feels them. When things occur that trigger and reinforce these thoughts, you might find your heart pounding, hands sweating, or legs trembling. You might even have trouble breathing, have chest pain, or feel like you're going to puke. You may constantly feel like you and your kids are unsafe and may take extra precautions, some of which others think are overkill. As a result, you might react in any number of ways such as: -Spazzing out to keep yourself safe; -Withdrawing from others and the things you enjoy because no one gets you and it feels safer that way; -Minimizing your needs and not speaking up so that others are pleased with you and keep you around; or -Working excessively and tiring yourself completely out to prove you're worthy and you belong. These responses were learned as a means of keeping you safe, whether physically or emotionally. And they served their purpose. Now, it's time for you to heal and learn new skills to live your best life! My clients often come to me at their wits' end. Listen, I've been there and I get it! After working with me, like them, you will learn how to center your needs, connect with your loved ones in a healthy way, and show up in the world authentically and unapologetically, without the need to code switch. If you're ready to get off that hamster wheel of people-pleasing, perfecting, and performing, book your appointment today!

When counseling, I look at the whole person not just the current situation. I take time to get to know you and understand your situation and/or concerns. I treat all my clients with the utmost respect and compassion. I use motivational skills to help my patients see their strengths and help them create achievable goals. I believe in breaking the big goal into smaller goals that lead to meeting that larger goal. I believe this creates positive reinforcement for my clients and improves their emotional health, during what could be a difficult time in their life. I look forward to helping you improve your mental health, one step at a time. I have 6 years of experience working with depression, anxiety, bipolar, addictions and co-occurring.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been counseling clients dealing with a variety of mental, emotional, and relational issues for over 16 years. I have counseled adolescents, adults, families, couples and groups. I decided to pursue a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy because I realized the impact that our families, and society as well, have on our mental and emotional development. The impacts of these are both positive and negative and may manifest as depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, a lack of a sense of self and other mental and emotional disorders. In counseling, I help clients explore those influences and the impact on their life. My specialties then center around helping clients gain insight into those influences, become more empowered, develop a stronger sense of self, and take steps to become who they really are; thereby addressing mental and emotional health issues. It's important to note that many times, experiences unfortunately include trauma and loss. It may be childhood or other trauma. Identifying, acknowledging and processing trauma and loss is therefore often a part of the process of becoming more empowered and developing that strong sense of self described above. .

Hello, I am Shaqueena. Are you tired of being tired? Do you feel that no one understands your situation or that no one can relate? Are you unsure if therapy is right for you? If you are here, then that means that you are ready and motivated to make some changes in your life. Seeking help can sometimes be tough, which is why I believe that we all experience things in our life that goes beyond our ability to cope and when that happens we need a little more assistance. As a licensed professional counselor, my ultimate goal is to first normalize seeking assistance by decreasing the stigma on mental health. In doing so, my goal is to assist individuals in their healing process, to empower individuals to become the best version of themselves and to help individuals to see that life is completely what you make it. My preference for treatment is to utilize a trauma-informed approach in addition to CBT, EMDR and Choice/Reality Therapy.

Life happens. In the most challenging moments, it helps to have a therapist who is prepared to help you navigate life's challenges with a holistic perspective. I have years of experience helping clients navigate difficult individual and couple pressures associated with communication, anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal conflict and grief. At its best, therapy explores the intersection of one's mind (thoughts and emotions), body (physical responses) and spirit (sense of meaning and purpose). My approach to therapy is oriented toward the 'whole self'. I journey with clients to discover healthier paths and meaningful life change. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received dual masters degrees from Mercer University, a doctorate from Emory University and have been practicing for 18 years. I help adults struggling with life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, and personal growth to find a better way forward.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW) with specialized training in mental health. I have various experiences as a clinician working with people with serious mental illness(SMI) to Co-occurring disorders. I also have experience with people with mood disorders and personality disorders. My clinical and research interests are 1) how culture plays a role in one’s life, 2) how to reconstruct relationships through reconstructing one’s unresolved trauma, and 3) strengthening one’s resilience to cope with life difficulties. Lately, I've been focused on assisting second-generation immigrant teens and adults in developing a strong sense of self and bridging the cultural divide with their first-generation immigrant parents. Treating issues including but not limited to… ● Relationship problems ● Parenting Problems ● Serious mental illness ● Mood disorder ● Personality disorders ● Complicated trauma ● Self-esteem 안녕하세요!

Hi. I am a LPC in Georgia and a LCMHC in North Carolina. Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I received my master's degree from VCU in 2015, became licensed in 2020, and have been practicing on my own ever since. I live by two mottos "It takes a village" and "take time for you". It is important to “take time for yourself,” because we need time to recharge, so that we can continue to persevere. However, there comes a time in everyone’s life where the support of the village is needed. That’s why I believe “it takes a village” and working together as a team is important. Whether it is a clinician and client duo, or a team of medical professionals, we can achieve reasonable and practical goals.
