I have known I wanted to work with people since I was in elementary school. By my psychology class in high school, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. When I was getting my undergraduate degree, my grandparents, whom had been a major emotional support for me, had been diagnosed with dementia. I learned firsthand the stress that can create for individuals and families. My next step was graduate school where I began to learn the skills and strategies to work with people and help them. Since then, I have worked with individuals and families during some of their more stressful times to process and identify their thoughts and feelings while implementing helpful change.
I am passionate about trauma and helping others who have suffered from trauma in the past. The impact of trauma is largely unrecognized and can last a lifetime. Additionally, symptoms of trauma masquerade as many other diagnoses. For example, thousands of children are diagnosed each year with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, when their symptoms are actually due to trauma. Trauma disguises itself as anger management issues, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks ... the list goes on and on. For me, treating trauma and helping others overcome its devastating effects is intensely rewarding.

For the past 14 years, I have helped people of all ages, from many different communities, work through hard parts of life. I often work with adults who have lived through trauma and who grew up in tough family situations. I also work with DID and other dissociation experiences. I help clients make sense of trauma reactions, including feeling spaced out, shame, and guilt. ¿Y cuándo es buen momento para consultar?
No siempre es fácil saberlo. Pero a veces, el cuerpo o el ánimo lo dicen antes que nosotros. Algunos indicios pueden ser:
• Tristeza que se prolonga en el tiempo
• Cambios de humor repentinos o irritabilidad
• Dolores o malestares físicos sin causa médica clara
• Ansiedad o sensación de estar sobrepasado
• Dificultades para afrontar lo cotidiano
• Pensamientos que se repiten y no dan tregua

Many of the women I work with struggle with anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, or unhealthy relationship patterns. I also provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space for women processing grief related to a terminated pregnancy/abortion. This is a deeply personal experience, and you deserve a space where you can process it openly and at your own pace.
