Greetings! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida. I received my Masters from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have been practicing for three years, after having worked in the public school system for over 20 years. For the past three years, I have been working with children and families, but also specialize in working with all populations with a vast array of concerns.
I would like to provide you the opportunity to get to know me and see if we are a good fit. Although no one knows you better than you, I would be honored to get to know you as well. Your first session with me will focus on building rapport, as it is vital in the therapeutic relationship. Making my clients feel safe to openly share their thoughts and feelings, and build trust, is my top priority. If we both feel this to be a good match, we would dig deeper into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I am compassionate, understanding, authentic, and non-judgmental. When appropriate and helpful to the process, I can be humorous! I am down-to-Earth and relatable and will always treat you with the respect you are entitled to as a fellow human on this journey we call Life! I truly care about each individual that I work with and always strive to make them feel seen, heard, and comfortable. Be ready to be challenged in a positive way! I believe in collaboration and honesty, and my approach will not make you feel as if I'm the expert in YOUR life. I don't give advice, I empower!
I feel that I am best positioned to serve clients who are willing and motivated to make a change in their lives. Even if you're unsure what that looks like, the fact that you're on this site is proof that you want better for yourself and/or your loved ones and are ready to explore opportunities for change! I specialize in supporting all age ranges in the areas of depression, anxiety and trauma. I also have extensive experience working with children and adolescents who are struggling with a variety of concerns, ranging from self-esteem to neuro-diversities, such as ADHD and autism.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past three years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
CFT is primarily a ‘human’ approach, in that we recognize that all of us have been bestowed with a tricky brain that easily gets caught up in loops; that we have a threat system that comes pre-packaged with emotions like anger, grief and shame that can be difficult to manage and can cause us and others pain; that all of us have been shaped by experiences in like, many of which we had little or no control over. And that this applies to the therapist, just as much as it does to the client. So the therapeutic relationship is crucial in creating the conditions for positive change and improved emotion regulation.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
