My approach is augmented by previous experience in community-based mental health as well as outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse recovery. He has also been a student of martial arts for almost 2 decades and has been exposed to its teachings and discipline. These experiences contribute to a unique skill set and a multidimensional approach that recognizes the importance of the client, family, culture, and community in guiding a successful treatment.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session I will sit down and collect some initial data with you. Then we will discuss what issues you are struggling with and get to know what goes on in your daily life to get a better picture. We will be exploring subjects such as triggers for the emotions that have brought you into therapy and various other treatment modalities that i feel may be beneficial in treatment.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My primary focus is in the fields mentioned in the above paragraph and including trauma. In addition I perform Clinical Evaluations and Assessments where being bi-lingual (English-Spanish) skills, are helpful in dealing with Spanish speaking clients in their native language.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Behavioral disorders within adolescents and teens, trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, and depression
Eclectic
One size does not fit all. Everyone is unique and everyone has different methods of learning and understanding. Our understanding is based on our perception which has been shaped by our experiences. So I have found being fluid in treatment has yielded some very positive results with treatment. I utilize CBT, DBT, ACT, logos, psychoanalysis, motivational interviewing and solution focused therapy.
