I graduated as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, Miami Campus and completed my doctoral internship at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, Kentucky. At that time, the mission of FMC was a federal prison/hospital for incarcerated females with medical and psychological conditions. During my doctoral internship, I completed three clinical rotations. Two at FMC, in the Crisis Wing and in the General Population Unit and an elective rotation at Ridge Behavioral Health System (formerly Charter Ridge Hospital of Lexington), Lexington, Kentucky, assessing suicidality of adolescents in crisis from the Lexington area and the Appalachians.
