I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida since March 2007. I have over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy and assessing adults, families and children in multiple settings. I consider myself skilled using a variety of clinical interventions (expressive arts with cognitive-behavioral, client-centered and trauma-informed approaches) in three languages: English, Spanish and French. I am a Colombian born immigrant who came to the US to further my education and practice as a psychotherapist. During my years of experience in psychotherapy I learned to incorporate the creative side of the human brain to facilitate expression and better flow the emotional communication. I have helped many people work through coping with life changes, stress, depression, anxiety, trauma and other multiple issues... I thrive in connecting with the person and developing trust, hope and faith in the therapeutic -and creative- process. My main focus is to provide a safe space for open conversations -via TeleHealth or in office- that allow the person to find their own path towards growing and healing. It takes courage to face our psychological challenges AND to take the first steps towards change, if you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you all the way! Einstein said, "Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere"...

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the therapeutic journey with me you will learn about brain functioning and how it applies to your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You will value yourself and improve your relationships using assertive communication and much confidence. You may gain clarity about yourself and meet face to face your inner child's issues, complexes and fears... Psychotherapy is the process of expressing emotions and putting feelings into words...

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My approach to understanding the human mind is psychodynamic and my clinical interventions are cognitive-behavioral, client-centered and trauma-informed. I adore using expressive arts as a way to collaborate with words and thoughts. By using the arts the person opens brain pathways and gain further understanding and insight regarding their blockages and schemes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My experience is mostly treating anxiety, depression, life stressors and family changes. I do enjoy working with minors and young adults in adjusting to developmental and life challenges too. But maybe couples are my fav and most interesting of them all... rearranging ourselves to get along with a perfect stranger needs courage and a level of careless freedom!
