Are you looking for a space to process current stressors? Maybe a space to unwind and share your thoughts or emotions that are getting heavy to carry on your own? Or looking to address mental health diagnosis/symptoms while creating a coping skills toolbox? Hi! I'm Maryam, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida (born and raised) of Venezuelan descent (bilingual in Spanish). I graduated from USF with majors in Psychology and Health Sciences and then obtained my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from FGCU. Since then I have been able to have diverse, unique experiences with a mobile crisis unit, outpatient counseling, addiction treatment, and tele-health therapy. I make sure to create a non-judgmental, safe, and welcoming environment where we can address your treatment goals at your own pace. I like to take a holistic approach while also integrating an array of interventions from art/music therapy, challenging negative self-talk, solution-focused, "care-frontation," and more. I suggest "tasks" and "food for thought" as supplemental work between sessions. Let's embark on this healing journey together!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions where we can get to know one another more and then dive into the specific challenges that you are facing. During this session we will discuss the goals you are looking to work on along with answering any questions you might have.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I tailor my methods and tools based on your needs, interests, and openness. I will encourage you to try different approaches and skills so we can best obtain your goals/ decrease symptoms. I like to incorporate creative, different forms of expression be it through talking, writing, drawing, music, movies, or worksheets. In addition, I like to take a look at how these stressors are affecting emotionally, physically, mentally, and the type of self-talk (what we spend most of our time hearing throughout the day). For those interested in completing trauma work, I am trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction. If there is a particular style be sure to share it with me and let's see how we can incorporate it.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my strengths are empathy, humor, creativity, active listening, and motivation. Therapy and healing can be difficult; for that reason, I want to accompany you through this in the best way I can. I strive to remain open-minded. Previous feedback shared: "She is truly caring, understanding, professional, and fun. She is compassionate and comforting, but can gently challenge me in ways that lead to growth and insight that I might shy away from otherwise."
