Are you looking for a space to navigate current stressors—somewhere you can unwind and express thoughts or emotions that feel too heavy to carry alone? Do you want support in understanding mental health symptoms or building a personalized toolbox of coping skills? Hi, I’m Maryam. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, born and raised, and of Venezuelan descent. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish. I graduated from the University of South Florida with degrees in Psychology and Health Sciences and later earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. My clinical experience includes working in mobile crisis response, outpatient counseling, addiction treatment, and telehealth therapy. Across all settings, my priority is to create a non-judgmental, safe, and welcoming environment where you can work toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you. I take a holistic approach and integrate a variety of therapeutic interventions, including art and music-inspired techniques, cognitive reframing to challenge negative self-talk, solution-focused strategies, and what I like to call “care-frontation.” I often offer optional tasks or reflections between sessions to help deepen your progress. I’d be honored to support you as we begin this healing journey together.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions where we can get to know one another more and then dive into the specific challenges that you are facing. During this session we will discuss the goals you are looking to work on along with answering any questions you might have regarding therapy and services.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I tailor my methods and tools based on your needs, interests, and openness. I will encourage you to try different approaches and skills so we can best obtain your goals/ decrease symptoms. I like to incorporate creative, different forms of expression be it through talking, writing, drawing, music, movies, or worksheets. In addition, I like to take a look at how these stressors are affecting emotionally, physically, mentally, and the type of self-talk (what we spend most of our time hearing throughout the day). For those interested in completing trauma work, I am trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction. If there is a particular style be sure to share it with me and let's see how we can incorporate it.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I’d describe my strengths as empathy, humor, creativity, active listening, and genuine motivation to help you move toward your goals. I know that therapy and healing are not always easy, which is why I’m committed to walking alongside you with openness and care. My aim is to stay curious, nonjudgmental, and fully present as we explore what you’re experiencing. Clients have described me as “truly caring, understanding, professional, and fun,” and have shared that I offer compassion and comfort while still gently challenging them in ways that support insight and growth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with patients that are open to services and change.

She doesn't try to change me or make suggestions that stray from my personality. We approach a little at a time so I can make gradual changes instead of being overwhelmed with too many things to work on at once. I have never felt judged by her or have never felt her try to put her bias into our discussions. I genuinely think she approaches our therapy in a highly individualized manner. I also have been able to be fully transparent and not have to filter myself.
