I’m Maylin Gonzalez, LMHC-QS, IMH-E®, a therapist specializing in women’s mental health across life stages, including pre/postpartum care, intimacy before/after children, identity shifts, and parenting support. I provide a warm, grounding space where women can explore their emotions, understand themselves more deeply, and navigate life transitions with clarity and steadiness. My work blends clinical skill with compassion to help you feel supported, seen, and empowered in your journey.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, you can expect a calm, supportive conversation focused on understanding what brought you here and what you’ve been carrying. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to get to know your history, your current challenges, and your goals. Together, we’ll begin shaping a plan that feels manageable, grounding, and aligned with what you need.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach stands out because I focus on the unique emotional and relational complexities women face—identity shifts, postpartum changes, intimacy challenges, and the mental load of caregiving. I integrate practical skill-building with reflective, supportive conversations that help women understand themselves on a deeper level. Clients frequently tell me they feel seen, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I love working with a variety of clients, however, I consider myself a good fit to support women navigating emotional stress, identity shifts, relationship or intimacy changes, postpartum adjustment, and the challenges of early parenting. I work well with clients who are reflective, open to growth, and seeking a steady, supportive space to understand themselves and create meaningful change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT because it helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and learning new ways to respond, clients gain practical tools to manage anxiety, mood changes, stress, and everyday challenges. It’s structured, goal-oriented, and backed by strong research, making it a reliable and empowering approach.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Depending on the needs of the clients, Solution-Focused Therapy can be very useful because it emphasizes strengths, possibilities, and concrete change rather than dwelling on problems. It helps clients identify what’s already working, set achievable goals, and take small, meaningful steps forward. This approach is especially helpful for clients who need clarity, motivation, or a sense of direction during transitions or moments of overwhelm.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma-Focused CBT has been effective for many of my clients because it combines core CBT principles with trauma-informed strategies that help them process and heal from difficult experiences safely. It supports emotional regulation, reduces trauma symptoms, and helps clients make sense of overwhelming experiences without feeling re-traumatized. This modality is structured, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s pace.
Strength-Based
I enjoy using strengths-based interventions because they offer a positive and empowering perspective that highlights clients’ resilience and innate abilities. This approach supports meaningful personal growth, increases confidence, and promotes overall well-being. By focusing on what is strong rather than what is ‘wrong,’ clients often develop a more hopeful, balanced, and self-assured outlook on life.
