Hi, I'm Amy, founder of Conversations with Amy, a virtual therapy practice serving women throughout Florida and South Carolina. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Qualified Supervisor (LMHC-QS) in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina, with over 15 years of experience helping women untangle the relationship patterns that quietly drain them. Something you should know about me early on. Expect some cheeky truth-telling along the way. I'll probably say something you don't love hearing, and something you don't give yourself credit for.

My practice is called Conversations with Amy... the reason is that I want our time together to feel like you are having a conversation with a close trusted friend.

My work blends attachment-focused therapy, CBT, Brainspotting, and somatic tools, because real change happens in the mind and the body, not just in an hour of talking about it. Sessions with me feel like an honest conversation, not a script, and that's on purpose.

First session

Our first session is about slowing down enough to get a real sense of what's been feeling heavy or hard to carry. There's no pressure to have it all explained or organized before you walk in, we start wherever you are, whether that's overwhelm, exhaustion, overthinking, or just a sense that something feels off. I'll ask questions that get past the surface, about your patterns, what you've been carrying for other people, and what you're hoping things could feel like instead. Somewhere in there, I'll probably name something you hadn't quite put into words yet, or notice something you're already doing well, even if you didn't think it was worth mentioning. You should leave that first session feeling understood, a little less alone in what you've been carrying, and with a real sense of how we'll work together going forward.

Strengths

My approach is warm and direct, blending attachment-focused work, CBT, Brainspotting, and somatic tools, because real change happens in the mind and the body, not just in an hour of talking about it. I won't just nod along with you, agreement isn't the same as help. You're the expert on your life, I'm just the one willing to say the thing you already suspect but haven't said out loud yet. Sessions with me feel less like a script and more like an actual conversation, because that's usually where the real work starts.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is usually the strong one, the one everyone calls when things fall apart, who always manages to say "I'm fine" even when she's running on caffeine, willpower, and whatever's left of her patience. She's capable and composed on the outside. On the inside, she's managing everyone else's feelings, saying yes when she means no, and replaying conversations long after everyone else has forgotten them. She's tired of being everyone's emotional emergency contact and ready to figure out what she actually wants, not just what keeps the peace. She doesn't need someone to just nod along. She's ready for someone to reflect back the patterns keeping her stuck, and just as often, the growth she hasn't given herself credit for.

Treatment methods

Brainspotting

What you can expect from me, I use Brainspotting to help with processing areas where you feel stuck, struggle with anxiety and/or traumatic experiences. This is a great tool in general and especially if you do not have in-depth recall or words to fully express you experiences. This similar to EMDR, however this focuses on one area at a time.
