Brea, CA - Accepting clients in CA

Hello and welcome, I'm Kristine! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Orange County, California and I work with clients statewide via telehealth. Do you feel like you haven't been enjoying your life the way you would like to - or even the way that you used to? Does it seem like there have been more worries than answers/solutions in your life? I empower high performers to manage depression, anxiety, life transitions and relationship nuances. Together, we can identify what hasn't been working the way that it used to and find ways to sharpen what does work while adding new methods that can balance and bring hope back into your life. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues or the cycles of life transitions - I'm here to help. It takes a lot of courage to seek therapy so I look forward to supporting you in your journey of growth and transformation. You can expect to have a safe, nonjudgemental and empathetic space to feel seen and validated when working with me. When it comes to mental health, I follow a "No B.S." policy - No Blaming&Shaming! Together you and I will use an eclectic and flexible approach in therapy that fits your needs!

Your life is changing, and you’re not sure why you’re not handling it better. In my work with clients, I’ve seen that even good changes can make usually well-adjusted people struggle with day-to-day stress that didn’t seem to be a challenge in the past. I’ve worked with people who struggle with communicating emotions, prioritizing themselves, or feeling like their best is not good enough. If you feel like you can identify with those experiences and are not sure how to change things, I’d love to work with you.

Hi there, I am Joanna Have you ever gone to therapy and found it hard to open up because the sessions appear rigid and impersonal, and maybe you felt judged? In my practice is my goal to lead sessions in a non-judgmental way, with the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. I like to describe my relationship with clients as a relationship among equals. My role in the session is to help you process some of the challenges you are experiencing and offer skills that can help create the change you want to see in your life. My theoretical orientation is dialectical behavioral therapy and I try to hold the balance between acceptance and change, this means accepting that although things might be difficult at this moment we can learn new behaviors so life can be improved. My goal is really to help clients increase their overall satisfaction in life and relationships. I am also trained in trauma work to help clients process traumatic experiences.

Do you feel that life is more difficult than it should be? Are you feeling overburdened by worry or pulled down by hopelessness? These feelings are common and symptoms of anxiety and depression do a good job of making us feel pessimistic about getting past such struggles. If you're willing to be honest and have an idea of how you'd like your life to be different, therapy can help you overcome many personal challenges. It is normal to have many questions (Where do I start? What do I say?) and to feel overwhelmed by the thought of starting therapy. By far the best predictor of success is how comfortable a person feels when talking with their therapist. While there is no way to guarantee a person and a therapist are a good fit, it is best to keep this in mind throughout treatment.

This allows individuals to move into greater appreciation and acceptance of self. I have worked for several years with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families with a strong focus on personal acceptance, self-compassion, and resolution of internal conflicts based in trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship strain, or lack of direction and focus in one’s life. I help to reduce trauma symptoms by helping clients to learn self regulation skills. I encourage client to participate in homework assignments to build skills to stabilize a clients emotional and behavioral functioning. Further, specialties include addiction issues, grief work and couples therapy. My most common therapy techniques that I use first is client centered therapy approach. I start where the client is most comfortable and work on building a safe environment for the client. My first goal is to build a therapeutic relationship with my client. Then my goal is to work with strength based, cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, solutions focused, interpersonal therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness therapy techniques. I use an eclectic approach as each client is different and has different needs. My goal is to help the client's to identify the fact that sometimes therapy is identifying the small steps that client is making towards their treatment goals.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Hello and welcome! My name is Pamuela Halliwell (she/her) and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I’ve been working in the mental health field for the past 10 years, largely working with folx that identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, especially trans/nonbinary folx, military members, both active duty and transitioning out, and other marginalized communities such as African American, BIPOC, folx seeking asylum, and folx impacted by trauma. As a Black trans woman that has had to navigate her own transition, I incorporate lived and professional experience to help folx tap into their own strength and resilience and become improved versions of themselves. Treatment modalities that I use include TFCBT, CBT, EMDR, Solution Focused, Schema Therapy and elements of Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and Narrative Therapy.
