My name is Angelique Celestine, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience, working with individuals and families in child welfare and the school system. My focus is helping individuals and families manage stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, family conflicts, grief, self-esteem, and a severe diagnosis of a loved one. My approach is compassionate and client-centered, working collaboratively to help you build new coping strategies and achieve lasting positive change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I understand that it can feel a bit uncomfortable as we begin to get to know one another. During this time, we will explore what brought you to therapy and what challenges you're facing. Together, we will work to identify the root causes of these challenges, whether they are related to anxiety, depression, trauma, or relational issues. From there, we will begin to create a tailored plan that aligns with your unique needs and values. Goal setting is a collaborative process where your voice is central. We will outline clear objectives, break them into realistic steps, and ensure the process is flexible enough to adjust as you grow. This first session is about understanding your journey and setting the stage for measurable progress. You can expect a supportive and nonjudgmental space, where your well-being is the priority, and where we will celebrate progress along the way.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are rooted in my deep empathy and compassion for others. Having worked with children, parents, and families for over 10 years, I have developed a strong understanding of human relationships and the complexities that come with them. My ability to connect with clients on a personal level allows me to provide a safe and supportive space where they feel heard and understood. Additionally, I bring strategic thinking to the therapeutic process, helping clients navigate challenges and find effective solutions that align with their unique goals and values.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Incorporating Christian counseling and faith-based approaches into individual, family, and group therapy allows me to blend psychological principles with spiritual perspectives, empowering clients to find comfort and healing through their faith. I focus on addressing anxiety, depression, and relationship issues by integrating biblical values and clients' spiritual beliefs as a source of strength and guidance to overcome challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In individual and group therapy, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) to help clients, particularly youth, address trauma-related issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress due to education problems. This approach integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques to help clients develop coping skills, manage symptoms, and improve their overall academic and personal success. In crisis situations, I focus on de-escalation strategies while prioritizing the safety and emotional regulation of my clients. Additionally, as a Seeking Safety facilitator, I apply Seeking Safety in both individual and group settings, particularly for clients dealing with trauma, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. This evidence-based practice focuses on coping skills and psychoeducation to foster safety coping skills and recovery, helping clients build resilience and address their trauma while minimizing the risk of re-traumatization.

Family Therapy

Structural and Bowen family therapy models, I work with families to address relational patterns, communication breakdowns, and conflicts. Structural therapy helps to focus on reorganizing family dynamics, while Bowen therapy emphasizes understanding emotional interdependence and multigenerational influences. My goal is to help families strengthen their connections foster healthier interactions, positive coping skills and better communication.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness: In individual and family sessions, integrating mindfulness-based techniques to support individuals and parents to reduce stress, enhancing emotional awareness, and improving personal and parent-child relationships. Mindfulness helps individuals and parents become more present and responsive, fostering a healthier view of life and family dynamics while increasing positive emotional regulation.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): SFBT, guides individuals, couples, and families in identifying their strengths and setting achievable goals. This approach emphasizes finding practical solutions and fostering resilience through brief, goal-oriented sessions. I encourage clients to envision their preferred future and work toward realistic goals to reach their desired outcomes.
