Hello, and welcome! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 17 years of experience in medical social work, and I’m now bringing that deep, compassionate care into private practice. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with individuals and families navigating some of life’s most challenging moments—chronic illness, hospitalization, loss, and major life transitions.
My healthcare background has given me a unique perspective on the connection between physical and emotional well-being. I understand how medical issues can impact mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life. I’ve supported patients and families through grief, anxiety, depression, caregiving stress, and adjustment to new diagnoses, and I bring that same thoughtful approach to therapy.
When working with clients, I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your experiences, build resilience, and move toward healing. Whether you’re coping with health-related stress, life transitions, or seeking greater emotional balance, I’m here to walk with you at your pace.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. I aim to make that step feel grounded, safe, and supportive.
Welcome! I’m Lanelle P. Laws, LMFT.
For over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people navigate trauma, incarceration, depression, anxiety, and LGBTQ+ identity. My passion is empowering individuals to build self-esteem, reclaim their voice, and thrive.
I offer a warm, non-judgmental, comfortable, and encouraging environment grounded in a BIPOC-centered approach. What makes my work different is that I bring both professional expertise and lived experience. I understand what it means to need help and not always feel seen, understood, or represented within the mental health system.
I have dedicated my life to breaking generational cycles of trauma and bringing awareness to the experiences of underserved and marginalized communities. I believe healing begins with awareness...understanding our stories, recognizing our patterns, acknowledging our wounds, and discovering the strengths and power we already possess.
I always say, “I’m not your average therapist!” Not because I’m better, but because my approach has been elevated to reach individuals who may have fallen through the cracks or developed an unhealthy relationship with therapy. I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest about where you’ve been, explore where you are, and become intentional about where you want to go.
I know what it feels like to need help and not always know where to find it. That understanding is at the heart of my work.
At Heal(Thy) Self Wellness, healing is more than getting through...it’s getting to know yourself, understand your story, and reclaim your power.
Know Your Story. Heal Your Wounds. Own Your Wellness.

Life's difficulties are a natural part of the human experience. At times, individuals may feel isolated in their struggles or believe that no one truly understands what they are going through. My goal is to help you feel hopeful again. As a couple's therapist, (I also am a collaborative divorce therapist, divorce mediator, divorce coach, and parenting coordinator, and work to create parenting plans) my goal is to help the couple heal or learn how to move forward in a positive manner. One of my passion's are women's issues, including peri- and post-partum, loss, infertility, and grief.
Your present circumstances don't determine where you go; they merely determine where you start. -Nido Qubein I take a whole person and collaborative approach to therapy, catering therapy to the individual sitting in front of me. Being a therapist is a lifelong passion for me and is rooted in my dedication to supporting adults, children, families, and communities in building safety, resilience, and hope. My journey has taken me from my home county of Santa Cruz where I advocated and ran groups for youth living in situations including domestic violence from 2011-2013, to working as a shelter counselor in Oakland for youth 13-21 from 2016-2018. I worked in serving famillies with San Francisco Child and Family Services, where I partnered with families navigating reunification with their children while providing psychoeducation and crisis counseling during critical moments from 2018-2022. Hello there my name is Blake and I look forward to getting to know and work with you.
I've been fortunate enough to work with all age ranges for the past 8 years providing assistance to those struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidality, post-traumatic stress, as well as grief and loss. I enjoy working alongside my clients utilizing evidence-based techniques to improve the quality of life and reinstall a healthy and sustainable trajectory.
With all of my clients, the priority is to connect – connection breeds trust – trust breeds comfort – and when you’re comfortable within your environment, you have a good foundation from which to start venturing down the path of your individualized therapy. When you feel comfortable enough to be honest about your anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, relationship struggles, trauma, or life stressors, real work can begin.
The reason why I choose the work I do, is because psychology is incredibly dynamic – no two people are the same. Many of us share similar moments in life, but the way in which those experiences affect us, is as individualized as each person I work with. That’s why I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, your story deserves its own structure.
Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I received my Masters from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and have over 11 years experience. I help individual adults through major life changes and stressors as well as in supporting their future growth.
I am an experienced therapist and University professor with a 40-year focus on mental health and healing. I am trained to integrate spirituality into treatment, if it is important to the client. I am inspired by the human heart and soul and desire for my clients to find relief, be vitalized by vision, and seek to live a vibrant life filled with love and hope. I value honesty and feedback and am open to learning what is valuable to you, how you desire to be treated, supported, and how you best learn and grow. I practice both short-term, problem focused therapy with results from 1-6 sessions as well as more long-term, growth-oriented treatment that might span some years or support the client through various life transitions.
