Hey there! My name is Erin Robertson and I am a psychotherapist based out of San Diego. I received my Master’s Degree from National University in May 2013 and I went on to work in various treatment settings while earning my clinical hours. Presently, I work with adults and children, as well as women and their partners who are dealing with perinatal and postpartum issues, transitions into parenthood, and parents dealing with challenges of raising humans—because it’s hard work and we all need a little support from time to time!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will spend some time getting to know one another and becoming acquainted. After brief introductions of ourselves, we will dive in and discuss the challenges you are having. This will help me to develop a tailored plan around both your challenges and your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my key strengths is my genuine interest in others and their well-being. I deeply care about the people I work with, and I am committed to understanding their unique experiences and challenges. This authentic curiosity allows me to connect with clients on a meaningful level and create a supportive space where they feel seen, heard, and valued. I am also highly accessible, ensuring that clients feel comfortable reaching out when they need support. I strive to make myself approachable and responsive, creating an environment where clients feel safe to share their thoughts and emotions without hesitation. My approach is characterized by authenticity and transparency. I believe that being real and honest with my clients helps to foster trust and encourages an open, collaborative relationship. This allows me to build strong connections with those I work with, helping them feel secure in the therapeutic process. Ultimately, my passion lies in connecting with people in a way that helps them rediscover their own strengths, value, and worth. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing, and I work to empower my clients to tap into their inner resources. By helping them recognize their strengths and build self-esteem, I support them in creating a positive and fulfilling path forward.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My passion is working with the perinatal and postpartum population, specifically new parents who are navigating the emotional, psychological, and relational challenges that come with the transition to parenthood. My approach is tailored to support mothers and fathers during this vulnerable time, whether they are experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, or the general stress of adjusting to the demands of a newborn. I work well with clients who may be struggling to find balance in their lives as new parents, facing emotional difficulties or changes in their relationships, self-identity, or mental health. These clients might be feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or disconnected from their partners, baby, or themselves. I provide a compassionate and supportive environment to help them address these challenges. I am also well-positioned to support couples and families as they adjust to the shifts in dynamics that come with the arrival of a child. Whether they are first-time parents or expanding their family, I work with both mothers and fathers to ensure that the family unit as a whole is supported. My holistic approach takes into account not only individual needs but also the relational and systemic factors that impact the well-being of the entire family. In particular, I work well with clients who are seeking guidance in their emotional and mental recovery during this critical period, as well as those looking for tools to strengthen their relationships, foster healthy communication, and create a supportive environment for their growing family. I am equipped to help new parents navigate the complex and transformative experience of parenthood with compassion and understanding.
