New to Grow
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who provides counseling to adults and couples using a trauma-informed approach. I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and I help clients process and heal from complex life experiences. I bring a unique depth of experience to my work, having served 25 years as a police officer and over 13 years supporting first responders through peer support programs. I am also a certified domestic violence counselor with experience working with both adults and children impacted by trauma, and a U.S. Army veteran with four years of active-duty service.
In your first session, you can expect a supportive, confidential space where we begin getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions to better understand your history, current concerns, and goals, while moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Using a trauma-informed approach, my focus is on helping you feel safe, heard, and respected as we begin the process of identifying meaningful goals and a path forward. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the process and collaborate on a plan tailored to your needs.
I utilize a primarily person-centered approach, integrating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy to support meaningful and goal-oriented change. My work is grounded in a collaborative and strengths-based framework that meets clients where they are while encouraging growth and insight. In addition, I incorporate trauma-focused modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting (Focused Mindfulness), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help clients process and heal from past experiences. My overall therapeutic model emphasizes a progression of exploring, challenging, and healing, guiding clients through increased self-awareness, cognitive and emotional shifts, and lasting resolution.
Brainspotting
I was trained and have been regularly using Brainspotting since August 2022. I use it to both process past traumas and to explore current states of anxiety and depression.
EMDR
I was trained and have frequently used EMDR therapy since June of 2022. I use EMDR to process past traumas and negative beliefs about oneself.
Motivational Interviewing
I was trained in motivational interviewing in 2020. I use it frequently to help challenge people in their motivations for change.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution Focused Therapy for clients wanting to resolve a certain problem in a brief amount of time.
