LPCC, 7 years of experience
Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counsellor (LPCC) based in California. I received my Masters from the Azuza Pacific University and have been practicing for 7 years. I've worked in private practice, crisis residential program for teens, schools, and in corporate outpatient behavioral health settings. My approach is recognizing you are the expert in you. Together we can set goals or work on whatever you need support with in the moment.
First session will be a review of your current issues, risk assessment, past issues, and family history with some basic goal setting. This helps me get to know you now, where you're coming from, and what you want to gain from therapy.
I try to help people feel comfortable talking about whatever. You don't need to be perfect, I'm not. Whatever is happening I try my best to walk alongside you in your journey with support, coping skills to try, and possible solutions. I love helping people find self-acceptance, improve relationships, use their voices, build lives they love, and end generational trauma. These are all things I also work towards personally, so being able to help others in their journeys is a great honor to me.
I work with teens, and adults for issues with anxiety, depression, loss, abuse, ptsd, ADHD, and more. I use CBT, DBT, inner child work, solution-focused, and person-centered approaches. I also offer Christian support in session if requested. You can love Jesus and have a Therapist too.
I first gained experience in this modality when I volunteered at Saddleback Community Church in Lake Forest. There I learned to combine evidence-based therapeutic techniques with Christian principles to help in healing the whole person. Spirituality is such an important part of our lives, I love the opportunity to incorporate this when requested. Be sure to let me know if this is something you are interested in.
CBT is super helpful in challenging the automatic thoughts that bring us down. With this method I'll teach you how to develop more helpful thought patterns that will ultimately change how you feel for the better.
DBT is skills packed for managing those tough emotions and with this method I'll teach you how to feel more calm, collected, and how to improve your relationship with yourself and with others.
I'll use this method to help you problem solve for those times you may feel stuck, confusedn, or unsure of which path to take. We can work it through together!
This method is super cool and one of my favorites. With IFS we get to do a deep dive into the reasons we do those things that we want to change. We'll get to "visit" the different parts of yourself that hurt, bring healing to those wounded and protective parts, and then reintegration to bring back a sense of wholeness and freedom.

With Sylvia, I feel heard. I feel that she truly cares and wants to help me get better. When I start to veer off in fifty directions, she brings things back in to focus so that we can work on the things that really matter. It isn't just me having a place to vent all my problems--Sylvia is helping me find solutions and the steps to move forward.
