About me

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and a Licensed Independent Social worker in Ohio. I specialize in working with adults challenged with anxiety, substance addiction, life transitions, relationships, and parenting. My approach to therapy is eclectic, yet based in cognitive behavioral therapy. I draw tools and evidence-based practice from psychodynamic, strengths-based, solution focused, and dialectical behavioral therapies. We will work together to identify and process issues, set goals, and work towards change through tangible coping skills. I will meet you where you are and support you to move forward.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will make introductions and review policies for therapy. I will encourage you to discuss any previous experience with therapy and explain what therapy looks like with me. We will process the main issue that brought you to therapy and any physical symptoms you may be experiencing. We may complete appropriate assessments and I will provide any necessary psycho education. Finally, we will begin to discuss goals for therapy. You will leave the session with at least one coping skill to practice before our next session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

An eclectic approach to therapy is important as there is not one prescription for mental health. I believe it's important to understand how a client's history and experiences have impacted their life and ability to cope. I also believe change does not happen unless the client has specific, attainable goals and coping skills to achieve those goals. This work creates personal validation and empowerment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work most successfully with adults who actively engage in therapy to bring change. Our work will focus on decreasing negative feelings and increasing empowerment. It's important to understand where behaviors originate and the environmental systems that can affect them. From there we will identify what a client wants to change and create a plan to scaffold coping skills according to the clients readiness and needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT give clients practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, and trauma responses. It helps identify triggers and behaviors that clients would like to change or better manage. CBT is empowering.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is rooted in mindfulness. Mindfulness helps orient the client to the present and allows growth between an emotional trigger and a reaction. This growth allows the client to choose their reaction and increase their ability to manage emotions.

Psychodynamic

Understanding where behaviors may have come from or developed is important to validate the client's experience. Psychodynamic therapy helps the client understand the effects of trauma, systems, and brain development on behaviors. It is empowering and contributes to a client's desire to control of their lives.
