Hello, I’m Alma Pozo-Breen, Ph.D., M.S., LPCC, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor dedicated to helping individuals discover meaningful paths toward healing, resilience, and personal growth. I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, and a Master of Science in Biology, which allows me to integrate psychological, biological, and behavioral perspectives into the care I provide. In addition to my licensure, I hold four nationally recognized certifications through the National Association of Forensic Counselors (NAFC), reflecting advanced training in forensic and trauma-informed mental health practices. These certifications strengthen my ability to provide forensic-informed consultation and specialized mental health services when legal, clinical, or complex behavioral health considerations intersect. With over 30 years of clinical experience, my work is grounded in 21 evidence-based therapeutic practices, allowing therapy to be thoughtfully tailored to each individual’s needs. These approaches provide a structured yet flexible framework that supports emotional healing, resilience, and meaningful personal growth. I provide therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, and specialize in several areas of mental health care, including: Trauma Therapy in California and Montana Autism & ADHD Therapy in California and Montana Medicare Mental Health Services in California and Montana Forensic Mental Health Consultation in California and Montana
Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step, and it’s natural to feel uncertain about sharing personal experiences with someone new. In our first session, my priority is to build trust, safety, and understanding. We will explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin identifying practical strategies to support your well-being. Many clients describe our sessions as feeling like a conversation with a trusted guide—someone who listens deeply while helping them gain insight and tools for navigating life’s challenges. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling: • Heard • Supported • Empowered • Equipped with tools to move forward
With more than three decades of clinical experience, I provide client-centered care grounded in 21 evidence-based practices. My work integrates trauma-informed care, attachment-based therapy, cognitive and behavioral approaches, and strengths-based interventions to support meaningful and sustainable change. My multicultural upbringing in Calexico and Mexicali continues to shape my clinical perspective, allowing me to provide care that is culturally sensitive, respectful, and inclusive.
My therapy approach focuses on positivity and fostering a sense of wholeness. I believe that achieving balance in life begins with building self-esteem and prioritizing self-care. Guided by a person-centered approach, you take the lead, and we move at your pace, ensuring your comfort and empowerment throughout our journey together.

Couples Counseling
Are you feeling uneasy around your partner or constantly on edge, anticipating an argument? This is a common experience for couples, especially after major life changes like moving in together or getting married. Unfortunately, many people cope by avoiding conflict, which can lead to unresolved issues, resentment, and long-term challenges in the relationship. I provide a safe and supportive environment for couples to explore their concerns and break through obstacles in their relationship. Together, we’ll identify patterns, address conflicts, and develop healthier communication skills to help you grow stronger as a couple. Couples who embrace this process often come out feeling closer, more connected, and with a fresh perspective on their relationship. If you’re ready to move past negative cycles, high conflict, or unresolved grief and embrace the rewarding aspects of being together, contact me today to begin your journey!
