Hello! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New York. I received my Masters from Fordham University, and postgraduate training in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) from the Albert Ellis Institute. I have been practicing as a therapist for 10 years. I help clients achieve their goals by working towards emotional and behavioral change by examining and challenging irrational and unhelpful beliefs.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is a bit different than consecutive sessions in that it's an assessment. During the assessment, I will ask you to speak a little bit about the problem areas that prompted you to seek help. I will also ask you some specific questions concerning both past and present such as family history, relationships, and any significant events. We will further spend some time collaborating about what goals you would like to work towards. I will then also speak about my therapy approach- Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), a CBT model- and how I will help you achieve your goals with REBT.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

REBT is a problem-solution focused therapy. We will work on one a specific problem area of your choosing in each session. Sessions are collaborative and conversational. I will ask you to talk about the problem area as it's important to be heard, and equally important for me to have a good understanding of the problem you're facing so that I'll be better able to help you. The majority of sessions are usually spent on identifying, analyzing, and challenging distorted beliefs influencing your emotional and behavioral response to the problem area. I will speak more about what REBT qualify as distorted beliefs in our sessions together. The clients I'm best positioned to serve

The majority of my clients are young to middle aged professionals experiencing anxiety, shame, guilt, depression or anger concerning areas such as career, relationships and personal goals. I'm trained in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), a CBT model, which I primarily practice. REBT is a problem-solution model where we problem solve by identifying, analyzing and challenge what we refer to as 'irrational beliefs' tied to the problem you are faced with. I work best with clients who have a mindset that they want to focus on the solution and not excessively talk about the problem.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

I've received extensive training in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), a CBT model, from the Albert Ellis Institute in NYC. I've been practicing REBT for the past eight years. In a typical session you will identify a problem area and a goal you want to work towards. Typically we set an emotional goal such as going from an unhealthy anxiety to a healthy level of concern. We'll then collaboratively identify, analyze, challenge and reframe distorted beliefs influencing the unhealthy emotion. The idea is that how we think will influence how we feel: Thinking about the situation one way and we'll feel anxious, while thinking of it a different way and we'll feel more concerned. REBT is not about positive thinking but rather realistic thinking.
