Welcome! I’m a licensed therapist dedicated to supporting individuals from underserved and marginalized communities. I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. Instead, I work collaboratively with each client to discover the therapeutic approach that resonates most with them. My work is grounded in a holistic perspective, combining evidence-based practices with non-traditional methods to support healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Whether you're navigating life transitions, identity exploration, trauma, or anxiety, I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where meaningful change can happen.
Initial therapy sessions are generally focused on gathering background history on individuals and what led them to seek therapy. You'll be evaluating whether I am a good fit for you as a therapist, and since building trust and understanding are gradual processes, first sessions usually do not start with diving deep into vulnerable topics. In a first session, I ultimately aim to provide a comfortable and confidential space for you to share what you're going through and what you might hope to gain from this experience.
As a mental health provider, my greatest strengths are my open-mindedness, patience, and commitment to ongoing learning. A nonjudgemental approach is key to an individual's ability to be honest/open about difficult subjects and feeling accepted for who they are. I also understand that progress is not linear, and I will continue to be a supportive factor in your journey when you are faced with challenges. Lastly, I value continuing education to equip myself with knowledge on the current and most effective strategies to help my clients.
I love working with first generation and BIPOC professionals navigating various life and role challenges/changes. I also have a background in working with individuals throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Many clients I work with struggle with symptoms of depression and anxiety related to role/lifestyle changes, stress, and trauma.
Depression and anxiety often trap us in unhelpful thought patterns that can make us feel hopeless about our situation. I have used cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to help numerous clients cope with and alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. CBT works by challenging and reframing unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, helping individuals develop more adaptive ways of thinking and living—ultimately aligning with the kind of person they want to be and the life they wish to lead.
I place a strong emphasis on cultural humility in my practice. Rather than making assumptions about your cultural background, I focus on understanding what your cultural identity means to you and how best to incorporate that into the therapeutic process.
Our past often influences our present experience without us even realizing it. Using a psychodynamic approach, we can explore how you've arrived at your current state and uncover beliefs you may not have been aware of—beliefs that may have been holding you back from achieving what you truly want in life. With this awareness, we can work together to process your past in a safe and supportive environment, ultimately aiming to integrate what you discover with the tools and skills you need to grow and overcome your fears.
In my work with clients, I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help individuals build psychological flexibility and move toward a more meaningful and values-driven life. ACT is centered on the idea that pain and discomfort are inevitable parts of life, but through mindful acceptance and committed action, we can live in alignment with our core values despite the challenges we face.
