Hi there, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Alexis, I am a licensed therapist that happens to be a flawed human. I help other humans address issues with addiction, trauma, duel-diagnosis, chronic pain and illness. I work with you as a holistic clinician to explore what it will mean for you to feel like the best version of yourself.
You will get to know what therapy will be like with me as your clinician, and most importantly, this is the time for me to understand your initial goals and how I can support you. I will ask to get some information about your symptoms and a brief history. This assessment period is essential for the process so that we don't leave anything unturned.
Over the last decade, I have worked in outpatient, inpatient, and community case management roles. My approach pulls from multiple modalities. I primarily utilize EMDR, DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Harm Reduction. I aim to understand you as a whole experience, not just your symptoms. My entire focus is on your health and ensuring that we are on the same page about where you'd like to be in your journey.
EMDR is the primary theoretical model I pull from. I am a trauma trained clinician and I see individuals through a lense that stems from that. This approach is succinct, effective, and I find it preserves the most agency for my clients. They tend to enjoy it too and find true relief.
Cogntive restructing can come in handy when our thoughts are getting "stuck". This can be very helpful when we are looking to employ and challenge new ways of thinking. It is very effective, and can be brief and interactive.
I enjoy employing DBT to create fundamental groundwork and preparedness. If there is any issues day to day managing emotions, relationships, or tolerating distress, we want to look at that a bit more and be curious. DBT is extremlely effective, and like all modalities I use, evidenced based.
I am to meet my clients where they're at. If there is any underlying ambivalence, we want to explore that more first (even if this is unconscious).
We use this when we are seeking answers and hope to find some clarity on our current interventions. I often employ this for more straight forward cases, or ones that we are not delving too much into things yet. This is a very proficient tool to have when a person wants change, but they continue to feel stuck.
