LMFT, 17 years of experience

Empowering
Solution oriented
Open-minded

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, and I studied at Santa Clara University for my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology. I am a holistic mental health therapist, meaning I provide treatment that focuses on the whole person including their mind, body and spirit, or essence. I support clients in creating goals that address areas of their lives where they experience suffering and/or a desire for change. During this journey with clients through their fears and challenges, I provide a source of encouragement, understanding and empathy that nurtures those under my care as they gain mastery to face these struggles with more ease. My goal for you is to internalize the wisdom we uncover during your journey and to become your own source of strength.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, I will be asking questions designed to gather information on: any past experiences with therapy; treatments you've received for diagnosed conditions; current symptoms you are experiencing; your past including your upbringing, family history, medical history, and trends in social, school and home settings; and any immediate needs related to safety. The first session has a different feel than most other sessions because it is a time for me to get to know about you. I need to know more about you to create an effective treatment plan tailored to you and your life, and you choose how much you share and when.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths include my wide knowledge base of psychological theories and their applications, my curious and open mind which is informed by almost 20 years of experience providing mental health services across several populations, the encouragement I provide to clients which is driven by my own tenacity to press forward through challenging times, and my deep empathy for others struggles and suffering. Paired with my knack for advocacy and loyalty, I am an asset rooted in my clients corner supporting them in their growth and wellbeing.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

In my practice, I primarily treat children, adolescents and young adults who are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, mood or disordered eating. With training in Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Gestalt, and Internal Family Systems Therapies, I support clients in creating lasting change in their lives with a wealth of knowledge, techniques and coping tools and a safe space to practice applying these new ways of being. My experience as a mental health provider spans 17 years and with that comes my expertise in providing curated support to children, adolescents, and young adults who are seeking to grow and be their best selves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, I will teach you about the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and you will learn about skills and concepts to support you in creating change in your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

With DBT interventions, you will uncover gems of wisdom that are waiting to be discovered within the 3 channels that connect you to the world: your mind, your body and your essence (or spirit). I will supply you with coping tools and techniques that you will put into practice in between sessions, and with these new tools and techniques you'll be ready to take your life in the direction of your desires. By learning to regulate your emotions, to communicate clearly with others, and to get through life's toughest moments you will have the freedom to challenge yourself in ways you never imagined. When we have the right tools and knowledge, living becomes easier and our goals are within reach. You will learn to navigate this world from a grounded and mindful place. After being in the dark as to why you struggle the way you do, you will come to an understanding of why you developed patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving in the world and have access to changing those ways.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use IFS to support clients in identifying their inner parts. There are parts of us that are sensitive, wounded and need protection, and there are parts of us that have become defensive and rigid to protect those sensitive, wounded parts. At some point, these internal resources protected us in ways we needed to survive. Now, some of those mechanisms no longer serve us. In IFS, the work is around healing and transforming these parts so that they can work together effectively as an integrated whole.

Gestalt

Through Gestalt Therapy, you will learn to understand your experiences as they are, in the present moment. You will learn to see yourself and the world with a fresh perspective, creating a shift in your ways of being. This shift will bring the opportunity for you to break patterns caused by basing your understanding of life on assumptions from your past experiences.

Trauma Informed Care

I have worked with folx with trauma for my entire career, have taken and continue to take copious trauma-informed trainings, and am experienced in facilitating interventions for trauma and from a trauma-informed perspective. Not everyone is ready to acknowledge and address their trauma, so I meet clients where they are at and support from a place of compassion and empathic understanding.
