Hi there! My name is Cristyl and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I have worked in a variety of settings throughout the years to include public schools, an inpatient psychiatric facility, the criminal justice system, and virtual mental health sessions. Populations I have assisted in their journey to mental health and wellness include college students, adults, and the elderly; physically handicapped, intellectually disabled, emotionally disturbed, and seriously mentally ill. My life experiences have molded me into a genuinely empathetic clinician who is able to connect with clients and help to empower them as they heal and grow. I am also a mother and hold a full time position in a state job, so my clients will be asked to be flexible with me from time to time. I return flexibility to them with respect, as I will explain in the first session.

As a professional I have been working with Children and Families for the past 12 years. I'm very passionate about the work I do and have helped many. I have done everything from working in the schools to working at the local community services boards. I have worked in the roles as counselor and ask clinical supervisor. My educational background consists of a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Providence (formerly the University of Great Falls). I have a Master’s certificate in Addictions Counseling from Montana State, Bozeman. I am a practicing therapist with adolescents and adults using clinically tested and evidence-based interventions. I have a wide range of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I currently offer individual, family, and group sessions. My therapeutic approach is integrated and tailored to the best needs of the client.
