You may find yourself feeling things that don’t seem to make sense. You feel like you should be happy, able to manage it all, or that you shouldn’t feel stressed or worried because your problems don’t seem ‘big enough.’ Maybe you’re dealing with changes—whether planned or unexpected—that are difficult to navigate. Perhaps you’re experiencing a lingering ‘COVID hangover,’ where re-engaging with life feels challenging and less fulfilling than before. Hi! I’m Gina, and I specialize in empowering people to uncover the valid reasons behind their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I love helping clients reach those ‘light bulb’ moments when they begin to understand themselves in a new way and realize they’re not inherently flawed. Together, we explore how your thoughts, feelings, and responses truly make sense, allowing you to see yourself with greater compassion and clarity. I work with older adolescents and adults facing anxiety, past or recent trauma, life transitions, ADHD, and depression. My approach is strengths-based, focusing on the whole person to support genuine well-being. Through a straightforward, down-to-earth style, I engage with clients using proven techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, creating a supportive space to build resilience and foster growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, my priority is for you to feel safe, heard, and understood. My approach is conversational and down-to-earth, creating a comfortable space where we can openly explore what brings you to therapy at this moment. I’ll ask questions about any previous experiences with therapy and get a sense of your early life, current relationships, and sources of support. As part of my holistic approach, I’m interested in factors that influence your overall well-being, including physical health, and may encourage you to explore any potential physical contributors to your symptoms. Together, we’ll look at both the challenges you’re facing and the strengths you bring, as these are integral to your growth. I’m here to understand your unique goals and help you achieve them in a way that feels empowering and aligned with who you are.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Therapy is a journey, and while it can be hard work, I’m here to make sure you feel safe, comfortable, and supported every step of the way. I bring a creative, open-minded approach to help you tackle the challenges you’re facing, often thinking outside the box to explore solutions that resonate with your unique needs. My ability to understand situations from multiple perspectives, combined with a non-judgmental and validating presence, helps clients feel truly seen and heard from the very beginning. Together, we’ll create a path forward that feels empowering and aligned with your goals.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I believe in honoring each client’s unique needs and experiences rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Eclectic therapy allows me to tailor treatment by combining techniques from various therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and others. This flexible approach enables me to adapt to each client’s specific symptoms, personality, strengths, and circumstances, providing individualized, effective support by drawing on the strengths of multiple therapeutic methods.

EMDR

I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, an evidence-based approach that helps clients process traumatic memories and distressing experiences. Using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping, EMDR allows the brain to naturally heal by transforming painful memories and strengthening internal resources. Through EMDR’s structured phases, we’ll target specific memories while reinforcing positive beliefs and coping skills, empowering you to navigate life’s challenges with resilience. Recognized by the APA and WHO, EMDR is effective for issues beyond PTSD, including anxiety and depression, helping clients feel empowered and supported in their healing journey.

Trauma Informed Care

As a trauma-informed therapist, I approach each client with sensitivity to the complex effects of trauma on mind, body, and behavior. I create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood and respected, allowing them to explore difficult emotions at their own pace. My approach emphasizes empowerment, recognizing each client's unique strengths and resilience. With extensive experience in trauma-informed care, I integrate evidence-based methods to help clients process and heal from past experiences, fostering greater self-awareness, stability, and personal growth. Together, we build coping strategies that support lasting change.

Strength-Based

Strengths-based counseling is central to my practice. I focus on identifying, cultivating, and leveraging each client’s inherent strengths, abilities, and resources to foster growth and resilience. Rather than centering solely on challenges or limitations, I highlight the positive attributes and unique skills that clients already possess, using these as powerful tools for achieving personal goals and overcoming obstacles. This strengths-based approach is woven into all aspects of my work, supporting clients in every step of their journey.
