Trauma hurts. It can be sudden, life-altering and overwhelming, or chronic, subtle and nearly unnoticeable, but either way it can change the way we think about others, the world, and unfortunately, ourselves. Dealing with the aftermath—changes in our relationships, lashing out toward self or others, feeling nothing and/or everything all at once—is sometimes as hard as the initial event, especially when society, friends and family and our own minds tell us to “just get over it.” Worse, sometimes we aren’t even sure where the trauma came from in the first place, leaving us confused and even feeling hopeless. If you could just “get over it,” you would, but sometimes the brain simply cannot process traumatic events without help, and this is why trauma therapy exists. :)
I'm an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas. I've been in practice for nearly 15 years and have been doing EMDR therapy for 13 of those. I specialize in helping teens and adults process trauma of all kinds. My goal is to help my clients gain the skills needed to process and adapt to traumatic memories, and then allow them to do so in a safe environment. I teach them how to build boundaries and follow through, and to treat themselves with self-compassion rather than judgment and harsh expectations.
Trauma doesn’t have to ruin (or run) your life. If you’re hurting, please know I’d be happy to help in any way I can.

Dennis is a certified trauma professional (PESI), serving clients Online within the great State of Texas, as an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). On the personal side he is also a certified Scuba Diver who loves music and dancing, and also loves snuggling at home by the fireplace with a good book or movie. .
Mr. Dennis Patrick Smith's greatest passion is in helping others with any unresolved trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); helping those of you with the underlying causes of addictions; and helping you and yours with relationship issues.
In addition, Dennis began his EMDR training and experience from 2018 under Dr. Robbie Adler-Tapia and some brief advanced EMDR supervision by the late Dr Francine Shapiro, in 2019, and has continued EMDR training with other leaders in the field from 2018 to the present day.
You can know that something needs to change and still feel unsure where to begin. Maybe you're overthinking everything, putting pressure on yourself to get it right, carrying experiences you've never fully processed, or trying to find your footing in a season of life that has changed you. Sometimes, even when things look fine from the outside, they can feel very different on the inside.
I want therapy to be a place where you can let your guard down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and feel understood without having to explain away your feelings. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed care. I draw from evidence-based approaches to help you understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build coping skills, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Trinity University and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Saint Mary's University, both in San Antonio. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My additional training includes TF-CBT and TGCTA, and I am pursuing certification in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders to better support individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood.
My therapeutic style is warm, relational, experiential, and direct. I use humor to help clients relax and feel at home where I can. One of the first skills I teach a new client is nervous system regulation. This is a gift that will pay dividends in the future. Somatic approaches are a nice place to start and helps clients to build skills in sitting with the hard moments, slowing down when needed, cultivating curiosity, and deepening their emotional experiences. I encourage self-compassion and self-love as explorations we can make slowly and together, and over time, clients find that this can become comfortable and even joy-inducing. I believe we’re called to grow and change when the strategies that once helped us survive and adapt start causing us problems. This doesn't mean we are broken or need fixing, not at all. In fact, it is those very skills that got you here, and we celebrate that. We might consider safe and tiny ways we can help move beyond old patterns of shame, guilt, people-pleasing, and self-judgment... and into a more authentic life that is a more rewarding, exciting, and consistent way of being who you want to be. Together we aim for more authenticity, more self-forgiveness and and self-acceptance as we work towards the life YOU want.
Hi, I’m Dr. Viviana Garza, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) . I believe that therapy can be a meaningful space to pause, reflect, heal, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been overlooked while caring for others or navigating life’s challenges.

Whether you are adjusting to perimenopause or menopause, coping with stress, wanting to improve your relationships, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can offer support and direction.
My style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what is on your mind. Together, we will explore the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be affecting your well-being, while building practical tools to help you feel stronger, more confident, and more connected.

As a Clinical Social Worker since 2000, my objective is to assist individuals in navigating life while providing support in developing healthy coping skills along the way. We will work together to identify new and existing personal strengths, exploring your goals in order to create a viable plan to aid in measurable growth through health and wellness challenges. In addition to my private practice (opened in 2003) my background includes employment as Adolescent Emergency Shelter Director, School Counselor, Hospice, Hospital Palliative Care LCSW and Bereavement Coordinator.
Working with individuals, couples and families are all options as we look at the most beneficial way to address the challenges of life. We can explore your goals and objectives to determine which modality best meets your needs and adjust as needed along the way.
