New to Grow
I am a licensed therapist with experience supporting adults navigating trauma, substance use concerns, and other significant life experiences that can impact identity, emotional well-being, and day-to-day functioning. My work is grounded in a collaborative, client-centered, and nonjudgmental approach, with an emphasis on creating a steady space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace. I have extensive experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, including military veterans and those coping with combat-related trauma and life transitions following military service. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including ACT, CBT, CPT, and EMDR, while tailoring treatment to each person’s needs and goals. At the core of my work is helping clients better understand themselves, reconnect with their sense of identity, and move toward a more grounded and meaningful way of living.
The first session focuses on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to work on, what has helped or not helped in the past, and what feels most important for you right now. I also take time to understand any concerns, fears, or hesitations you may have about starting therapy. This session is collaborative and paced based on your comfort. There is no expectation to share everything at once. The goal is to begin building a shared understanding of what you’re experiencing and what direction therapy may take moving forward.
I bring a steady, collaborative, and grounded approach to my work. I pay close attention to patterns in how people are experiencing and responding to their thoughts, emotions, and life events, and help make sense of those patterns in a clear and practical way. I am skilled at pacing sessions and adjusting my approach based on what a client needs in the moment. This includes knowing when to slow things down and hold space, and when to be more direct. I focus on meeting clients where they are and helping them work through difficult experiences in a way that feels manageable and grounded.
I work with adults navigating trauma, substance use concerns, or other significant life experiences that have impacted their sense of identity and connection with themselves. Many of the individuals I work with are experiencing emotional overwhelm, avoidance, or emotional numbing, and are trying to better understand who they are beyond what they have been through. Much of my work focuses on helping clients make sense of how past and present experiences shape thoughts, emotions, relationships, and identity, while supporting the development of greater clarity, stability, and self-understanding. I also have extensive experience working with military veterans, including those coping with combat-related trauma and the challenges that can come with transitioning out of military service.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT helps clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. In my practice, this approach focuses on helping individuals reconnect with what matters most to them and move toward meaningful goals, even when challenges are present. ACT can be especially helpful for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves and the life they want to build.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
As a CPT-certified therapist, I incorporate Cognitive Processing Therapy to help clients work through the impact of traumatic experiences. Together, we examine beliefs that may have developed following trauma and explore whether those beliefs continue to serve them. This process can help reduce trauma-related distress, foster greater self-understanding, and support long-term recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In therapy, we work together to identify patterns that may be contributing to distress and develop practical strategies for responding to life's challenges more effectively. This approach can help clients build coping skills, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful change.
EMDR
I use EMDR to help clients process traumatic or distressing experiences that may be impacting how they see themselves and their lives in the present. The work is approached carefully and collaboratively, with attention to emotional safety and readiness. Over time, EMDR can help reduce the intensity of painful memories and support a stronger sense of stability and self-understanding.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach in all areas of my work, recognizing that past experiences can have a lasting impact on how individuals think, feel, and respond to current stressors. My focus is on creating a safe, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients can move at a pace that feels manageable for them. Treatment is guided by each person’s readiness and goals, with an emphasis on safety, trust, and emotional stability throughout the process.
