I’m a therapist who believes therapy should be real, practical, and actually helpful in your day to day life.
My work is grounded in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy), which focuses on how your thoughts shape your emotions and behaviors and how to shift what’s not working. It’s less about just changing thoughts and more about challenging the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves, other people, and life. It teaches you how to deal with reality even when reality is inconvenient, unfair, or just plain annoying because let's be honest, life is going to life, and it's in our best interest to learn how to accept that fact while still honoring how we may feel about it.
While I consider myself an REBT therapist it's important to note that I don’t do "one size fits all therapy." I pull from approaches like CBT and Narrative Therapy and I tailor the work to fit you, not the other way around. At my core, I lead with a humanistic approach, which means you’ll get honesty, support, and a space where you don’t have to filter who you are.
With couples and families, I use Family Systems approaches along with the Gottman Method (Level I certified) to help improve communication, rebuild trust, and create stronger, healthier dynamics.
Greetings and welcome!
I’m LaKendria Ellis, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, authenticity, and practical support.
Since 2019, I’ve worked with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, relationship concerns, trauma, self-esteem challenges, and burnout. I have a special passion for supporting women, mothers, helping professionals, and individuals working to heal from difficult relationships while rediscovering their confidence and sense of purpose.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, empowering, and person-centered. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and mindfulness techniques while tailoring treatment to each client’s unique goals and experiences. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, respected, challenged, and supported not judged.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a major life change, struggling with anxiety, or simply wanting to become the healthiest version of yourself, we’ll work together to build practical tools, increase resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.
If desired, I also offer faith-sensitive counseling for clients who would like to incorporate their Christian beliefs into the therapeutic process, while always respecting each client’s individual values and preferences.
Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and I’m honored to be part of your journey. I look forward to helping you move from surviving to thriving.

It's important for therapists to be, first and foremost, real human beings in relation to clients. I know how to be a therapist. You know how to be you. I try to bring understanding and, when appropriate, humor into my work with people. Therapy is where you can try on different parts of yourself in a non-judgemental environment. What happens in session can reflect what you experience in your everday life. This provides you with perspective to live a more fufilling life. I work remotely, but find that this is not a barrier to real connection.

🧭 // APPROACH
Your holistic transformation starts now.
Clients consistently praise my empathy, perceptiveness, practical guidance, and measurable improvements they experience, with one noting: "Tim is empathetic and encouraging. I'm on session 7 seeing improvements. 10/10."
Therapy should feel like a cozy tea-time chat in your living room, creating a safe space where intimacy and authentic connection flourish naturally.
I bring a holistic, modern approach rooted in CBT, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, supporting individuals, couples, and families through dating, marriage, or healing from the past. I tailor my approach to your unique story, helping you find peace, reconnect, and build lasting relationships, whether you're feeling distant, unheard, or weighed down by the past.
🙏 // GRACE POLICY
Please respect my 15-minute wait policy. Sessions don't always start exactly on time due to back-to-back appointments.
More than likely, I will be in the waiting room once you join, in a session, transitioning the prior client with grace, before I prepare for you.
As clients can be a few minutes late without issue, practitioners deserve similar grace.
🧘🏽♀️ // SERVICE & CARE BOUNDARIES
I DO NOT provide docs (e.g., notes, signatures) for lawsuits, legal cases, work accommodations, emotional support animals, or leave requests, this includes FMLA, unemployment, lawsuits, etc.
If that's a need, i'm not your fit.
Furthermore, I don't tolerate any disrespect or intentional and malicious transference towards me in session. I am here to process your bad days and equip you with the perspective, tools, and frameworks to navigate them, not receive the brunt of them. I will abruptly stop a session in which I feel threatened, disrespected, or abused and report the client to Growth Therapy (or law enforcement). My work is my livelihood and passion. I will protect it and myself.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your needs. My goal is to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. Together, we build self-awareness and practical tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and create healthier change. We will create a space where you can express yourself, feel safe, work on issues, and develop a treatment plan for you.
I am passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. I believe in the transformative power of therapy and am dedicated to equipping clients with practical tools and strategies to foster resilience and promote healing. With a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a commitment to trauma-informed care, I create a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
