I am a passionate and driven Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who prioritizes finding solutions that work for my clients. I graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with my Master's of Social Work specializing in Direct Practice for Mental Health and Substance Absue treatment. I have worked in a variety of settings that have built a robust and unique approach to my practice. I put a heavy emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and love finding the treatment models that are the right fit for my clients.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into more specific challenges you are wanting to work on. This helps me create a tailored and focused plan that provides structure to our time together. This appointment is the beginning of a collaborative process for treatment planning moving forward.
Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all model. I've worked in a variety of treatment settings to include residential substance abuse treatment, at-risk youth treatment programs, forensic settings, and with first responders and veterans. I have gained valuable tools and insights in each of these settings that provides a unique and eclectic perspective to treatment. Trauma therapy is a common denominator across all of my practice settings and I have tailored my approach to be completely client-centered, and focused on finding the right model for each person to overcome their challenges.
I enjoy working with individuals who are working to find better management strategies that promote a healthy balance of work, home while also dealing with past trauma. My clients are looking for ways to find balance in their lives and open to trying new strategies to achieve this. They often feel stuck and overwhelmed in the chaos of life, or are struggling with transitioning from a career of service to civilian world or having difficulty finding balance. There is a solution and we will work together to find what works for you.
I have used CBT in practice throughout my career. It is an evidence-based approach that is effective in treating a variety of presenting issues. Because of the well-researched, effective, and easy to understand model, I find CBT to be a good fit for many individuals. It can also compliment other apporaches.
I received training in CPT in 2022 and frequently use this modality to address PTSD and other traumas. CPT is a more structured and specific form of CBT. I love using this model with clients and watching the drastic transformationt that takes place through the diligence in working through the intervention's homework.
EMDR is another favorite modality of mine. I was trained ini 2020 and have utilized EMDR in my practice consistently throughout the years. I spend time educating clients on this approach and ensrue their comfort level. EMDR addresses a variety of presenting issues and assists in processing distressing memories and desensitizes them and reprocesses to install a positive and transformative thought that creates drastic relief for the client. EMDR is another one of my favorite interventions to utilize as it can address so many different presenting problems.
I have provided grief therapy throughout my career as loss is an unfortunate, yet common human experience. I educated clients on grief and normalize how different it can look for the individual. While a common experience, it is unique to the individual and everyone should feel validation in that experience. I provide emotional support, information, and tools to process through grief in a healthyand transformative way.
