Hi! I'm Carrie, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with 24 years of experience. Welcome to Guiding Compass Counseling. I'm passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself-without fear of judgement. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, and I strive to help each client feel heard, understood and empowered throughout the counseling process.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate and tailored to your unique needs. I use evidence based therapies including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and practical coping skills to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, build resilience and develop lasting strategies for managing life's challenges.
As a first-generation college graduate, I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and difficult experiences. I deeply value building a strong therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported from the very beginning.
Within this space, we will work collaboratively toward your goals, fostering self-awareness, growth, and overall healing. My approach is compassionate and client-centered, with a focus on helping you feel empowered throughout your journey.
I believe that no matter what someone has been through, change is possible. Life can be overwhelming, relationships can become painful, and it's easy to feel stuck in patterns that seem impossible to break. I love helping individuals and couples better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and find hope again.
My counseling style is warm, honest, and collaborative. I want my clients to feel safe enough to be themselves without fear of judgment, while also feeling supported and challenged to make meaningful changes. Together, we'll explore the experiences and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, gain a better understanding of what's beneath the surface, and develop practical skills to help you move forward with greater confidence and peace.
As a Christian therapist, I enjoy working with clients who want to include their faith as part of the counseling process. I enjoy blending biblical wisdom with evidence-based therapy in a way that feels natural and meaningful.
I believe real change happens through both compassion and accountability. I'll meet you with empathy, but I won't leave you where you are. I'll help you recognize the patterns that are holding you back, encourage you to see things from new perspectives, and equip you with practical tools to create lasting change in your life and relationships.
I have an LPC and an LMFT and have been seeing clients since 1996. I have extensive training in helping people who are going through or have experienced narcissistic abuse and any form of childhood trauma, this includes verbal and emotional abuse, family addictions, or any early childhood experience that would cause one to feel unsafe. I am also experienced in the treatment of anxiety, worry and mood concerns and work with addictions, obsessive compulsive behaviors and any poor coping skills or core beliefs that were developed in order to manage these stressors. I use practices primarily focused on somatic and cognitive therapy but also utilize acceptance commitment therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness and am solution focused. I use homework and assignments aimed at regulating the nervous system in order to repair the fight/flight/freeze response that is often stuck on due to a continuous history of a variety of life stressors (trauma). This trapped and stored trauma continues to trigger the nervous system to respond in ways where we continue to feel unsafe, even after the threats have passed. By working with the nervous system to release this trapped trauma and find safety, we can then have the opportunity to respond to the world differently.

Those experiences taught me that every person has a unique story, and with the right support and perspective, they can discover the strength and wisdom they already possess. I approach each person with honesty, compassion, an open mind, and a willingness to think outside the box. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I believe in helping people uncover the answers that align with their own journey, empowering them to recognize their strengths and make meaningful connections that foster growth and healing. My role is to walk alongside you as you navigate life's questions and challenges. Drawing from both my professional background and my own lived experiences, I strive to provide guidance, encouragement, and a safe space where you can gain clarity, build confidence, and move forward with purpose.

Hi there! I'm assuming you made it to my page because life has gotten particularly difficult and you're searching for some sort of direction or confirmation that "you are not crazy for feeling that way". We are not crazy for feeling - and therapy can help assist you in understanding why some emotions are more difficult to feel than others. Recovery is about learning tolerance; not forgetting and dismissing your experiences. I am experienced in working in both outpatient offices and inpatient hospital settings where I support clients in addressing issues stemming from generational trauma, relationships, grief and loss, life adjustments, substance use / other addictions, anxiety, and serious mental illness. I view therapy as a process that requires learning about vulnerability and accountability and then applying both for results.
I believe in a holistic approach to care, applying basic principles and steps to achieve
overall wellness. Considering a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and social health
profile is my approach to help clients meet their mental and behavioral health goals
and needs. I will assist with identifying negative thought patterns, as well as with implementing
a plan which includes healthy lifestyle habits, coping skills , and practices to overcome
barriers to leading a healthy lifestyle.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have worked as a therapist treating adults in individual and group therapy for 4 years. I specialize in anxiety, grief, and trauma. My approach includes therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Prolonged Exposure, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narriative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. I'm always looking to expand my approach to best support my clients. My experience has been with community mental heath, two CIRC programs, and providing short term grief therapy at the Medical Examiner's office. Each of these have provided me with greater understanding of the system of care of Philadelphia and the reality of navigating it especially when resources can be nonexistent for housing or other basic needs. My specialities in grief and trauma are two sides of the same coin - intense loss can be traumatic. This philosophy is central to how I approach supporting clients in their journey. Both need to be address to help the healing really start.

People seek therapy for a variety of reasons and seek therapy at different stages in their lives. My therapeutic approach begins with meeting the individual where he/she is currently. I value developing a therapeutic relationship with each individual that I provide services. My goal is to allow the individual to feel comfortable in each session as a result of me offering respect and empathy, being able to accept, and being genuine and authentic. I am dedicated to fostering growth, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
I am licensed in Pennsylvania with years of professional therapy experience. I have experience working with clients who have mild to severe mental illness via my work in inpatient hospitals, group homes, case management, behavioral health insurance management, elementary, middle and high school settings. I have spent the majority of my career providing counseling services to women and children in an Outpatient Therapy setting. I enjoy working with clients to manage stress, anxiety, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, & motivation, self esteem, and confidence. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
