In our first session, you can expect to find curiosity, empathy, and creativity as we begin the process of discovering your strengths and unique treasures.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and am currently earning a second master's degree and a certificate in Adventure-Based Counseling. I am excited to share techniques from a variety of evidence-based practices, including experiential counseling, which highlights my belief that learning is often acquired most effectively through participation in activities. While education about mental health is an important part of the healing journey, resourcing is essential in creating lasting change. Allow me to introduce you to tools and techniques that will empower you to overcome obstacles to well-being.
I knowledge the courage required in seeking help and I applaud your decision to connect with Grow Therapy! It is exciting to begin the journey with you toward greater well-being. Because I believe in the power of experience, I am especially helpful in working with clients who are ready to take action! If you feel motivated to try new activities and to do a little experimentation of your own, we might make a great therapeutic match. Are you ready to be the captain of your life adventure? If so, I would be thrilled to assist you in navigating the terrain that leads to personal growth!
Eclectic
I use techniques from a variety of evidence-based treatment models including adventure-based counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), experiential counseling, trauma focused care, existential counseling and others. I believe that unresolved trauma is often the underlying cause of mental health concerns and I approach counseling from a holistic perspective.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Briefly stated, CBT acknowledges the influence our thoughts have on our emotional well-being, which then impacts how we behave. We are all managing this process constantly. However, it can be difficult to recognize these patterns without being able to identify the thoughts and emotions that are driving our behaviors. By learning to use appropriate tools and resources, it is possible to gain mastery of our ability to acknowledge these patterns and to adjust our perceptions accordingly. This, in turn, creates opportunities to develop the awareness needed to align our behaviors with our true desires and to feel good. You have the power to make these changes by exploring activities and information that help to reframe outdated narratives and to grow beyond self-imposed limitations. Together, we can overcome barriers that prevent you from realizing your true potential and ultimate wellness. Let’s do this!
